Okay so I decided from the first day I had the TRG in my hands that I wanted to one day have a folder. After tons of research I came across KRG which also makes a chassis system. I will go into detail soon about the ins and outs of the folder which I find most useful or impressive. In the mean time here are some pictures.

    A few things to note....

-I find that with most companies who have adjustable cheek risers that utilize thumb screws, just cannot stay in place without loosening. KRG decided to use a single screw type clamp arrangement which is so simple yet a genius idea! No more loose cheek piece while shooting or moving about.

-The factory fixed stock is only about 8-10 oz lighter (I cannot remember exactly).

-The only downside I have found over the factory fixed stock is the fact that when shooting the rifle prone, if you are not careful the lower metal frame will beat the crap out of your hand... A little bit of precaution while shooting can easily prevent this.

-Personally I never used the butt plate angle adjustment on the factory recoil pad so I do not feel as though the KRG folder is at a loss without it.

-The factory stocks (both folding and fixed) may have had a few weak spots that have been found by some with some unfortunate outcomes. The KRG piece appears to be a VERY sturdy piece of hardware that will take plenty of abuse, drops, bumps and falling on it before it may show signs of its use.

-As of yet I have not found a single issue with the folder. I could have opted for other full chassis systems for not much more. But I purchased the SAKO for the ergonomics and KRG has successfully maintained the factory feel with the highest level of detail and durability.

The rifle is a Sako TRG 22 in .308, 20 inch barrel, IOR 3.5-18x50mm, AAC 762SD suppressor, sitting on top of a SLIK tripod and home made cradle.

How do you like it? I am trying to get rid of my factory stock and as soon as its gone I will be ordering one of these...

Looks great! I absolutely love mine!

Stanwood, order yourself one. You will not be sorry.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

I have added some comments and opinions on the folder.

Note - I am not affiliated in any way with KRG, I am just a satisfied customer.

Buying from Justin at KRG was a breeze, the shipping was fast, the instructions were thorough and easy to follow, Justin also answered a few questions I had before buying VERY quickly.

For ME the folder was intended to make the rifle more portable as I carry my long rifles everywhere and having a shorter rifle was really worth it. The only other reason I replaced the factory fixed stock was simply because I heard of a few people who had stress fractures in the butt stock around where the aluminum mounting block was molded into the stock. I am very rough on hardware and the longer something is, the more it gets beat into trees and such when climbing up and down these hills. The added piece of mind that I would be MUCH less likely to break something going this route sealed the deal.

As it is there has not been much info on the KRG Folder on here and I just wanted to share my experience to anyone else reading up on them.

    Not a bad looking setup.

I have a bone stock TRG and it meets my needs, but the ability to fold it and stick it in a ruck (like an eberlestock)and not have as much sticking out catching on stuff sounds pretty good.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

I bought the KRG as well. It is a solid piece of machining for sure. Need to decide whether I will keep it or the original stock. I like both but can keep only one set up. I don't really have a need for a folder but like its adjustability.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

The cheek piece looks uncomfortable to me. How is the cheek piece when you shoot in the prone for long period of time?

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

I have spent 4 range days, 350 rounds, and roughly 3 hours behind the gun each of the days out. So far I have found no comfort issues. If it bothered me later I could glue some neoprene to it, but in all honesty I have no complaints.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

Agree with Matt2143. The cheek piece looks like it won't be comfortable and yet it is. I like it a lot.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

I think it looks great too, it just looks uncomfortable. Looks are sometimes deceiving.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

I have a Rem 700 KRG chassis with the folding stock and love it.

The cheek height adjustment is genius, all tool less, roll the o rings down on the two rods that go into the stock, so the cheek piece is too high, get behind the gun and using your cheek only slowly push down so you are level with your scope then tighten the wheel.

The o rings will retain the height when you remove the cheek rest when cleaning/bore sighting etc.

A lot of thought went into the design.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

Because the chassis system is factory and I just replaced the rear end, the accuracy has not been impacted. The Sako's are so darn accurate to begin with.

Hey, what's going on with these guys? Their website shows the folder for the trg is no longer available. I checked a few mopnths ago and it was still there. Does anybody have the scoop on what might have happened?

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

I was wondering the same thing. I have also been checking every few days to get their AICS conversion but it has been out of stock for the last 3 weeks.

Re: Sako TRG Folding Stock From KRG!

Is there another way to contact them other than the email contact on the website? I am also not getting my email answered...its been a few days. I'm hoping they are just out shooting or something....

I got replies from them. They are saying that new lot is out.

We're around guys! We got a little backed up from a few things like the 4th of July and whatnot.

We do have TRG folders in stock now, we had to disable it on the website because our inventory control system had a slight glitch, but we still make them!

Are the Gen 3 folders on schedule (3-4 weeks)?
