Grip Tape Help Needed

I've been picking my brain all afternoon, and can't come up with anything. So, I've decided to ask your help in helping me resolve this dilemma.

Several years ago a buddy of mine showed me a duck tape type product that had sandpaper on one side and an adhesive strip on the other. To this day I can't remember what it was, and he doesn't remember either.

One of the alternatives is to buy 'Talon Grip' for each of my pistols, but they don't offer it for rifle forearms.

So, I'm back to square one! Does anyone know of a product that is identical to 'Talon Grip' that comes in a roll like duck tape? I'm almost sure it's a 3M product, but don't have the patience to try and track it down on their website.

Thanks

Re: Grip Tape Help Needed

I can usually pick up enough scrap from a local skateboard shop. I put on the frontstrap of my 1911.

Like H308 said above skateboard tape from the local skateboard shop. Great stuff

Re: Grip Tape Help Needed

There's also stuff you can buy at the hardware store that's for adding grip to steps, ramps, etc. It's not as good as scateboard tape but works. Just need to knock it down a bit. It's pretty coarse.

Well, I went out and bought me a whole case of the stuff.

I went to my local office / industrial supply store and picked it up. This is the stuff that I got.

I cut out my grips and put them on my Glock 19. I think this is the exact stuff that Talon Grips are made of!!! As a matter of fact, I'm almost certain! I set out a set of grips that I had in my drawer for my Glock 26, and compared the thickness and grit. Everything is the same!

The only downside is that I'm not stuck with 48 pieces of 6" X 24" tape that I'll never use. I only need 2 strips to do all of the guns that I want to 'grip tape'. I've been trying to declutter my gun room, and then I go and buy 50 of something that I only need 2 of.
