So this may be kind of a rant , but I'm curious if anybody has the same complaint. I tried to order from them and got a busy signal repeatedly.For hours. I used to tell people that they would answer before the phone would ring.I went to the store in Idaho-forget what town- but it was like Walmart. NO service. Guys were busy talking to themselves. I went to their first store in Hastings or Grand Island and thought they were great. The store in Sidney was a mandatory stop; a destination. Now they suck. Did the bros. Cabela take the $ and leave the co. to catbert? I am bummed.

My experiences shopping online or over the phone have been the opposite. When my confirmation email had different sized shell holders and dies, they took care of the mistake and gave me 20% off just for having to call them.
Someone picked up after only 1 touch tone menu to route my call. Maybe something was wrong with their phone system.

Been to Cablea's stores from PA to Nebraska. Can't say that I've ever had a negative experience in any of their shops.
Sometimes they can get a bit crowded but the way these things are built they're more like an attraction than a store so people tend to flock to them.
Hopefully what happened to you was an anomaly and not a sign of things to come.

I'll second the Hamburg, PA shit service. I live about 20 minutes away and rarely ever go there unless it's an emergency. 95% of the prices are way out of line and the store is always crowded, even during non peak hours.

It's a roadside attraction, paying the light bill by hawking stuffed animals, fudge, and kettle corn to weary travelers looking to either take the fight out of difficult children or to see things unavailable in their People's Republik hometowns. I only go now if I'm on the way to the one range that is sort of in that direction and it's something that I need immediately, or if I think there might be a slim possibility of something interesting that isn't terribly finger-diddled (the tourists beat the shit out of the stock taking Rambo snapshots of each other) or overpriced on the used long-gun racks.

We have 2 up here in WA now, and one is about 15 min away. The only shopping I do at Cabelas, is shopping online, then choosing the option to pick up in store. I save on shipping and don't have to wait through the retards to get something I need.

The one in ft worth is about 20mins from me. Prices are great and they usually price match. Most of the stuff I need is in stock and the bargain cave has some badass deals in it.
My Lab likes to retrieve from there pond and the front door guy remembered my name last time.
Dont ever go on a weekend or holiday though.

Their catalogue service is pretty good, though.
Seriously, at the local store the counter lines at the gun section are incredibly long, take a number long, and the prices run $300 - $500 per gun higher than the local dealer I patronize. And they're sort of supposed to be the WalMart of sporting goods.

I don't go for there service, enjoy just picking up a couple items here and there that I don't want to pay shipping on (small item or two).
I love it. I gotta stop if I'm close, usually walk around for an hour or so and let the kids look at the stuffed animals and fish. Better than most of the places I get shoved into.
I have ran across some ok buys here and there. I don't go there to buy guns.
I'd much rather shop at Midway or Brownells if they had a shopping environment similar to Cabelas.

Don't have a Cabela's near me since I moved, but the one in Lehi, UT was always very busy but had some great employees there a few years back. Now I have a Bass Pro nearby and it's the same. I buy very little firearm related there, mostly clothes or fishing tackle that you can't find elsewhere. They have some great folks working the fishing section and their selection there is pretty good.
Anything firearm or shooting related I can get from the Hide vendors online here. Their workers on the gun counter still think the best thing going is a 700 VSS with a Leupold Vari-X on top and a Taurus Judge in a shoulder holster. I'll pass...

Best Cabelas I've ever been to is East Grand Forks, MN....they had a shit ton of shooting & reloading supplies. Allen, TX was a very close second.
Neither were particularly busy, and service in my experience was good.
