Drew my Montana Deer/Elk Combo tag, did not get my special permit bull tag, but I got tags none the less! Can't wait for fall, still have Nevada, Utah, and deer in Wyoming to go....

Re: Montana tags!!!

Got my combo tag as well, unfortunately not my special draw.

I'll be up close to Great Falls come November.

That is cool. I went to school in Boulder Montana, I try to get back every year to take my rifle for a walk! I have been putting in for the special draw unit up in 380 for rifle season and have been blanked so far, but I will just keep trying...hopefully before I have a long white beard I will get one

Good luck, hope you get the big bull you are after! Good luck to the rest of us too hunting on general tags!

We hunted in the Bridger Tetons last year up in Wyoming, beautiful country (went in just outside of Dubois) Set up camp just south of Yellowstone Park, (I think it is unit 60) It was 25 miles one way to camp on a horse...that is a long time to be on a horse in one day for this kid! We had a great time and pulled three small bulls out of there out of a party of 6 of us. I didn't shoot anything, but had a great time. My cousins shot 1 spike, and two rag horns. Amazing country up there, saw some wolves, griz, and there were alot of elk....in the park right above the game warden cabin...;)

Re: Montana tags!!!

That sounds like you were in the thoroughfare country. Gorgeous country indeed.

No joy on the draw for sheep, goat or moose. We'll see what number I draw for buff.

Elk, Deer are over the counter, Antelope I'll have to apply for.

Re: Montana tags!!!

Yes Sir, we were right south of the Thoroughfare, had a great trip and saw plenty of game, saw some beautiful country, spent time with good people, drank good whiskey, and had a hell of a good time!

Looking forward to the fall!

Re: Montana tags!!!

Looks like my buddy and I are going to do a drop camp in the Bob Marshall for the early season elk hunt up there in the middle of September. We haven't decided yet on if we are going in opening week, or waiting for week 2. I always like to get in before they have had much pressure, but pressure is a relative thing that far back in the timber and we have talked to several people who prefer to get in a little later in case the rut starts a little later with warm temps...decisions decisions

Either way I cannot wait to take my rifle for a walk!
