Bench Source annealer setup tips?

I'm still learning the ins and outs of using an annealing machine and one thing that I notice is that trying to change the torch positioning from say 6.5 Grendel to .308 Win takes some realignment. With the LPG bottles hanging off the torches, I've found that changing configuration to be a bit tedious. I am wondering if the Hide's Bench Source users would care to share any setup tips or lessons learned? Thanks!

Re: Bench Source annealer setup tips?

Thank God I am only annealing 308. You know, the two torches are nice, but might not be necessary with the case spinning as fast as it does. You might set up a high torch for the 308 and a low torch for the Grendel and just run one at a time.

Get yourself a couple of 5 foot hoses, set the cylinder on the floor and tie wrap the hoses to the leg of the bench. You can take the weight off the torch heads, and it makes vertical adjustments simple.

I was looking at hose setups yesterday. My reloading room is small and a 20# LP bottle is just too big. I saw that Lowes sells a 5# bottle but ut is also like twice the price. Weird. I think I can get a tee-connector and 5' hoses at Wally World. I'll be checking that today after my range session today. Seems like I work all week just to get to Saturday so I can go fire!

Re: Bench Source annealer setup tips?

I anneal 260,308 and 338LM on my machine. When I set them up I took measurements on wher to set the torch heights and times need for each. I do not have any issues switching back and forth takes about 2 min. I also set a small level on top of the brackets that hold the torches.

I think you would really want to keep the twin torch setup...Both working together gets the heat in faster with less time to spread further down the case
