I have been working on this project that I am just now getting the cash to work on right. My plain is to take my Remington 700 in 7mm RUM that already has a var. style barrel and been blueprinted. Adding a good set of optics which I have, then installing a muzzle brake on it and putting it in either the MDT-Tac 21 chassis or the JAE-700 but I can't seem to find too much " non-byest" feed back about either stock on their pros/Cons and overall ratings. Also im kinda hitting a wall on the best muzzle break to tame the 7mmRUM beast so I can shoot all day without needing a shoulder replacement

It will be tough to get non-biased info on either of those stocks. One isn't very popular and the other is just starting to get released into the wild. Both stocks will have a different feel so try to get behind both (and other stocks) before buying.

Well im also still consendering the AICS stock but I really want something diffrent than everyone else at the range. But Im not going to sacrific comfort and accuracy to do it.

Re: Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Ultra Mag.

If you want to have DBM then get an AICS or XLR chassis, if no DBM then have it bedded into a Manners or McMillan stock. I am unfamiliar with the MDT-Tac 21 but have read lukewarm reviews on the JAE.

Don't waste your money getting the action blueprinted until you're ready for a new barrel.

Re: Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Ultra Mag.

the action has already been blueprinted when i put the var. barrel on it. But I would like to know why you would not want to blueprint a factory action and barrel if it was only shooting for example a 2inch group at 100yards? If it was done right you could get down to possibly 1/2 groups. Just wondering why you wouldn't

Re: Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Ultra Mag.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it had already been blueprinted, you've got an odd way of writing that is a bit hard to understand.

The reason not to pull a barrel off, have it blueprinted, and then put that barrel back on is that you'll see marginal results at best with the factory barrel. If you're paying out the cash, may as well put a quality match barrel on it at the same time.
