I bought some cheap 62 gr projectiles from MidwayUSA. The bullet is 90% jacketed, but the very rear/flat of the projectile is not jacketed/exposed (lead?). If firing this though an AR-15, can the exposed lead cause any issues down the road, IE excessive/damaging lead builup in the barrel/gas tube/bolt carrier key.

Thanks for any help.

Re: question-projectile causing damage to weapon

I've run thousands upon thousands of them through AR's without issue.

Re: question-projectile causing damage to weapon

Nope, that's pretty typical construction for FMJs. Leading is really only a potential problem with non jacketed bullets and direct contact to the bore, your primers are probably putting more vaporized lead into the gas system than the base of the bullet.

yep, nothing to worry about, your theory is correct but in practicality doesn't affect anything measurable.
