Re: Need ideas on future build 300 blk
Well, after a lot of research on building a .300BLK, I ended up going with an AAC built upper. Has the bolt/carrier, ready to go. With the barrel and the URX2 KAC rail system and the Blackout mount already on it, I figured I couldn't build it for $934, which is what I got it for. 16", but I live where SBR's are no-no. Still, keep an eye on the AAC uppers. Not bad, and they guarantee their stuff to work. They also include load data for subsonic if interested. I'm happy with it.
I suppose you could build what you want for less, but based on what my criteria was, I couldn't. So the AAC one is worth a look. Like I said, it is well built and supposedly they are very reliable. We'll see I guess. Good luck.
Remember, reliability with such a wide range of loads is paramount with the .300BLK. LOTS of people have problem with builds and with mediocre uppers. So either find a tried and true recipe for a build or find a good upper. I've heard best about Noveske and AAC; both are great, but both are a little different regarding reliability with suppressed vs. unsuppressed and the type of ammo used.
Bear in mind I build all my own AR's, I trust 'em better and get better results. But with this one, for some reason I had a gut feeling to go with a quality upper from either the AAC or Noveske. It mostly has to do with the gas port, that they all keep secret? But why take chances.
