Gang,

I am stuck between the TBAC 30P-1 or the SAS Arbiter for a Sako TRG-22 with a 26" barrel. I am looking for any thoughts on poi change and quality. Thanks

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

I don't have a SAS but I do have a 30P-1 that I am very fond of. I am not all that concerned about POI change from on/off because why would I shoot with it off. That kind of defeats the purpose of having a suppressor. The 30P-1 is very well constructed and is very light - just under a 1lb. I have other suppressors that I have not been pleased about so when I got the Thunderbeast it quickly came my go to suppressor for my Precision rifles.

I have heard good things about the SAS Abiter so I think either would suite your needs very well. At a certain point it comes down to availability as I only buy in stock suppressors. I will do a dealer to dealer transfer as that is a relatively short transfer compared to form 4's but that is as much as I will wait.

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

YES!!!

ha, I have the TBAC, but would def settle on a SAS if funds were a little tight. TBAC has a well earned rep as one of, if not THE best, out there for precision shooting.

Do a search, this has been covered pretty in depth before in several threads.

Good luck,
DT

Love my TBAC. The SAS looks good too. I might order one up to put on my other rifles.

TBAC - have one on my TRG-22 - unquestioned performance and value

You will be hard pressed to find anyone that dislikes either that are actual owners. I have three SAS cans that I have personally bought and am waiting on my forms to clear. I am fortunate though that I get to play with everything SAS has to offer pretty much anytime I can get to the range and know Tim very well. He is a stand up guy with an outstanding product. I would love to see the Arbiter and TBAC in a head to head comparison and hear thoughts from people whom own both. I cant say enough good things about the Arbiter and have no experiance with the TBAC, so I cant really say which is better than the other.
Some unbiased reviews and head to head comparison would be awesome to see the results....

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

I decided to go with a TBAC 30P-1 for my first one off of the group buy. Can't wait to see what it can do on my TRG!

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

I have no experience with the SAS but have shot the TBAC. After shooting it I scrapped the idea of getting a Surefire and ordered a TBAC. They're that good.

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

I'm on the TBAC bandwagon. Great can with no issues. Use it on my 308 and love it. Its going to a hard decision. I'm sure you won't go wrong with either one.

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

The problem with the majority of the 'brand loyal' crowd is they don't own both, so they are better described as the ignorant cheerleader.

Good luck

TBAC - Have a 30BA and love it

SAS Arbiter with TOMB here. I use with everything from .223 up to 300 Win. It's a fantastic suppressor in all of my applications.

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

I believe I've read about issues with the SAS threading in the past. Does anyone know if the issue has been corrected, if there were only isolated incidents or if it ever really existed?

Disclaimer: I have neither suppressor, but I'm in the market for one and I'm looking to gain info. This was in no way a bash towards SAS.

Stopped by Suppressed Armament on the way home today and asked about this. There is a thread on the Hide that explains where this came from. The very first group buy was shipped out with threads (5/8x24) that were class 2 fit. All the suppressors were returned and re-cut to class 3 at Tim's expense. But that still turns up from time to time on the forums. You could say the same about just about any company that manufactures a product. The bottom line is that the problem was corrected at the expense of SAS and there are multiple stages of inspection where NIST certified thread gages are used to check every thing thats made there.

Hope that helps.

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

With all the recent raves I assumed the issue was corrected. Since there aren't a lot SAS distributors currently I haven't had a chance to see or try one and was looking for insight from a close source.

Many thanks

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

I went with the TBAC 30P-1 this time around for my TRG but I am already planning on picking up a Arbiter with the TOMB mount the next time around.

Re: Thunder Beast 30P-1 or SAS Arbiter for TRG-22

The brake version "TOMB" is really an effective brake. It really tames down my 300 WM firing 230 grain Bergers. I also have the flash suppressor version on my 6.5 Grendel AR. Both attachments are nicely machined and look great.
