zero'd @ 100 yds. with NF Rings and 2 piece 20moa base(s) on a 308 Savage, I've lost over 100 1/8th" clicks. Anyone know how to figure what base would give those back to me?

Re: little help on scope issue

The 20 MOA rings are meant to take some of the clicks out of the scope. What scope are you using? Is the scope losing the elevation up, down or what?

Re: little help on scope issue

What do you mean when you say you 'lost' 12.5 Minutes: Your 100 yard zero is 12 minutes up from where?

Re: little help on scope issue

from the bottom of the elevation turrent. Which is where I need to be to have the elevation to reach out 1000 yds. scope only has 45moa I think. I know ideally I'm wanting to sit half way up the turrent which puts me in the center of the convex but if I could zero at the bottom I'd have another 12+moa. Sure hate the idea of using Signature rings on my NightForce setup, but I suppose thata would do it. (also a fair chance I'm way off in left field with my oxygen deprived brain...lol)

Re: little help on scope issue

Was the reticle centered when you zeroed?

Use a set of calipers and measure the height of the front of the scope and the rear of the scope. The front should be closer to the rail than the rear if the bases are correct.

Re: little help on scope issue

I'v had this scope on this gun before and ran out of elevation. around 700 yards as I recall. It's on correctly, and zero'd. My question is what mathematical magic will tell me the correct base to get to end up zero'd at the bottom (or near) of the turrent. For example, when I put this on my .223, with it all the way down, I was still shooting 6" high @ 100 yards. So Ken Farrell told me I needed a 17moa base. When I got it and zero'd. it was 6 clicks up from bottom. problem solved. (ken's a busy fella)

Re: little help on scope issue

Well, in theory if you want to regain the 12.5 MOA of adjustment you lost when zeroing then you need to increase the MOA of the base correspondingly. So you would replace your 20 MOA base with a 32.5(probably 35) MOA base. Your analogy with your .223 rifle doesn't compute unless your original base with that rifle was 25 (or perhaps 20) MOA and you replaced it with a 17 MOA base. Of course my suggestion is based upon your indication that the glass is correctly mounted on the rifle. If you had any doubt, the previous post that the mounts might be on backwards would have some credence and should be investigated. Of course, having your erector at either extreme of elevation limits your windage adjustment but I'm certain you realize that.

Re: little help on scope issue

thanks extreme, it was a 20moa that I replaced with the 17.
getting a 35moa set of bases might be a challenge, but that's part of the game isn't it?
The choate stock went bye bye, and I guess this savage is now a Bench Rest Rifle:
