Was wondering what was better of the two?

Looking for the lightest, compact, qd 7.62 to host on .223 as well. Need to be full-auto rated as well.

New to the suppressor market.

Thanks!!

Re: Gemtech quicksand or YHM Phantom Ti ??

I can only speak for the YHM Phantom Ti 7.62. That's the only can I own or have ever shot. I love it. Works well on all my AR's-both 308 and 223.

Re: Gemtech quicksand or YHM Phantom Ti ??

Don't know on the rating for the Quicksand but not many Ti cans will be full auto rated. They are more for bolt guns because of the extreme light weight. While they dissipate heat quickly, they will not do well on FA application. Sustained heat and Ti do not mesh well.

Re: Gemtech quicksand or YHM Phantom Ti ??

YHM Ti is rated for full auto for 60rds. Your supposed to let it cool after that.

Also it can handle ANY .30 cal rifle round just like their stainless model.

Re: Gemtech quicksand or YHM Phantom Ti ??

Any 30cal within certain barrel lengths. I wouldn't be hammering away with a 20" 300WM...

Re: Gemtech quicksand or YHM Phantom Ti ??

I have the regular YHM qd in .30 cal and have got that bugger hot as hell on my AR. Holds up great. I wouldnt recommend doing that to the ti version. If your going for overall weight reduction on an AR platform, buying an exclusive 556 can is the way to go. I've been looking into the Silencerco Saker.

Re: Gemtech quicksand or YHM Phantom Ti ??

Ive shot both, and had multipules of each threw the shop. I would have a hard time recommending the YHM over the Gemtech from my personal experance. But I do have guys that call and ask for the YHM Ti by name. Most are not interested in hearing about or considering other cans so they get what they want.

Re: Gemtech quicksand or YHM Phantom Ti ??

I have never shot the YHM Ti; however I have used several Gem-Tech's over the past six years. I currently have a Quicksand on order, and it should be here next month.

I had Gem-Tech mill the barrel of my Remmy, 308, bolt gun to accept their Tension Bi-Lock mount and picked up a couple of their Vortex Bi-Locks for my AR's.

The Quicksand has a dB reduction rating of 32dB on a 308 and only weighs in at 17.5 oz. The overall length is 9.2" so it will be fairly long when slapped on my AR's. But for a light weight, quality, can that can multi-task, it will be great.

Another factor for me was the YHM used a ratcheting system vs. the Bi-Lock from Gem-Tech. I have seen ratchet systems that do not always line up to the same point each and every time. I do not know if one tooth, one way or the other would affect POI, but I like consistent repeatability.

The biggest factor for me, was that I am from Idaho. Gem-Tech is a local company and has the best customer service.

You are from Idaho, so IMHO, I say support your local guy and go Gem-Tech!
