I shot three short videos and posted on youtube using the new Iphone 4S adapter from USNV. It works really well I was kind of surpised how something so simple could take pretty good video. I have it attached with a Filmless PVS-14 beware the download is down graded thanks to youtube it looks much sharper/better in my computar saved file away it gives you a idea. Does anyone know a place where you can down full clarity videos these youtube videos are jerky with poor sharpness compared to the full size image files I get straight from the Iphone 4S? Also it is prety neat to take a pic/video and a few seconds later it's texted to your buddy 100 miles away for semi live updates

Re: Iphone adapter

I would like to know the answer to your question as well! Your video quality on YouTube isn't bad by any stretch but I know what you mean. I recently supplied Night Vision Equipment to a Film crew who were going to shoot video through a PVS 14 on a Canon 5D and they wound up using an iPhone for the entire shoot!

Pretty cool!

I will look around and see if I can't figure this out myself and let ya know.

Re: Iphone adapter

I can tell you the video on youtube is no where even close as good as the true video download from the Iphone on my computar. I think youtube must resize the video to lower its storage size. I shot several videos last night and Wow this little Iphone 4S system takes better NV pictures and video than My Cannon G11 NV setup.I kind of think this little adapter is over priced for what it is but heck it works really well and really easy plus you can text/email pics or video in the field try that with your camcorder or SLR camera. Its basicly just point and shoot that easy to use I havent had a bad pic/video taken yet.

Re: Iphone adapter

Yeah, I noticed the same things... I've got a Rebel 2Ti with a PVS-14 adapter... and the USNV iPhone 4 adapter.

Tried it on an normal iPhone 4, then an iPhone 4S, and it works pretty nice.

I also tried it on an L-3 AN/PVS-14 and an ITT AN/PVS-14 (both OMNI VII devices), and it works great with either of them.

There was a difference, but it wasn't pronouced. I'm glad someone got a filmless tube and showed that....

Slight delay! I apologize for the misinformation but it is now featured on the website.

Re: Iphone adapter

Can you get one for the W1000-9? -grin-

It'd probably be more use to had the direct attach camera solution... but that's a few bucks more! (....but really nice.)

Re: Iphone adapter

Got my adapter the other day it is fantastic. The quality of this thing is great. A total steal at the price point they are at. You will not be dissapointed. Also the service that you get when you deal with Mod Armory / Camille is second to none. Knowledgeable staff, lightning fast shipping, great communications, no hassles, no drama, just real people providing real customer service.

Thanks again Camille for getting me sorted out on the wilcox ambers for my anvis 9's You guys are great. Buy one of these camera adapters. It is the best 79.00 I ever spent for a night vision accessory.

Vimeo has better quality, but all down-res some for internet streaming. Your only option for full image quality is to upload the file to a host so folks can download it and watch it on their PC or burn it to a blueray for viewing on a HDTV.

Also remember that image quality has a lot to do with HOW you upload it. I recently realized that many of the applications that allow upload direct from the iPhone reduce the quality of the video to save bandwidth. Transferring it to your computer and uploading it from there often results in better quality if there are no quality settings on your device.

The 5D vs. iPhone for filming through NV doesn't surprise me in the slightest. The 5D is limited to the resolution of the device. The iPhone 4s is still capable of greater image quality than you can see through most NODs.
