I've read a few negative comments and reviews of their products in the past and I think they've changed owners recently, and I can't speak to that, but so far I have nothing but positive things to say about McGowen. I ordered a .260 barrel from them for my Savage that with my specs wasn't something they kept in stock as a standard drop in barrel, so essentially it was a custom barrel. Before I ordered I emailed them back and forth several times trying to decide on a particular caliber, length etc., as it was for a build that I am currently getting parts for. They were very helpful and prompt with answering all my questions, never telling me what I should get but at the same time guiding me to get the best barrel and caliber for my purposes. I was originally given a lead time of about 8 weeks, which based on other companies I talked to, wasn't that bad. I figured with the barrel making process and amount of business they had I would be looking at about 10 weeks ,knowing and understanding that lead times for barrels and stocks and anything that is custom made is not an exact science. Well, it was about 10 or 11 weeks since I ordered so I sent a quick email just to check the status of my barrel. I wasn't in a big hurry because my Manners stock is still 4-6 weeks out, but I was just curious, you know how you all get when you're waiting for new parts. I got a response from Debbi Keller saying she was actually just about to contact me to let me know that my barrel had a burr in the rifling that couldn't be removed by the lapping process so they just scrapped the barrel and were going to start all over with a new blank. Now I was ok with that because I would rather have a quality barrel then something they just tried to fix enough to get it out in time. She said they were very sorry but it was going to be about another 3 weeks, again I had no problem with that. So that was Apr. 23, on the morning of Apr 25 I got an email from Debbi telling me they need my payment info and shipping address because my new barrel was ready to be shipped. WHAT???? I contacted Debbi and asked if this was an all new barrel and what happened, she said yes it was indeed a brand new barrel and since they messed up they put a rush on it and put it at the front of the line at every station. Now I could understand that if it was for a big dollar contract or a big dollar client, but little ole me? It's very refreshing in this day and age to experience quality customer service and if their product is as good as they are, they have a customer for a long time.

I have had great experience from them also. 260 on Savage also. Great cust. serv. and a tack driver!

Re: Kudos to McGowen Precision!

They have been great to deal with and I've gotten great results, I have a 6.5cm in the works with them.

Re: Kudos to McGowen Precision!

I`ve used dozens of their barrels. I highly recommend them. Dan is a great guy also.

Re: Kudos to McGowen Precision!

I had my 30-06 rebarrelled to a 6.5 Creedmoor and my smith said he liked McGowen barrels that everyone he had done were shooters so I told him to do it. I have right at 100 rounds through it and still working a load but it looks promising at this point.
