Rifle Scopes Looking for a paper puncher scope

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the "I'm looking for a new scope thread" #561235

Budget: 300-500
Primary Purpose: Paper Puncher
Gun: Savage 12 fcv in .223, 26 inch barrel
Distance: 100-600
Hunting: no
Support: bipod front, sand bag rear

I know people shoot out to 18 miles with a 2 power scope, but I have my mind set on having as much magnification as possible. I don't really care how long it takes me to find the target.

I think the weaver t36 would suit my needs the best, does anyone have any other scopes I should check out first?

Oh yeah, I have some cheap ass walmart rings and bases at the moment. I was considering getting something a little nicer, or maybe even looking into a ring lapping kit.

Any suggestions for ring / base combos? Budge would maybe be 100 bucks for both ring and bases.

Nikon might work for you also. Had a Monarch that I paid a little more than your limit and the glass was really good I thought, it had the bdc reticle though and I hated that sob.
Hawke seems fairly well liked and they offer an online calc. for figuring bullet drop, might pick one up myself for a back-up rifle when p-dogging.

Look for a used leupold that has been boosted, or an older br36. T36s are a great value, the glass isnt super though.
