Bad weather kept away some shooters this month but still a pretty fair turnout with about 50 shooters braving the rain on Saturday and wind on Sunday. Still some good scores were shot so it shows it's getting tougher to finish near the top now.

Congratulations to Joe Wesley for his win with a 375. Seen a few new shooters this month which is great. Ya gotta come out to get your feet wet and get started. Great group of shooters to spend the day with and hearing that distant "ding" with a hit is gonna put a smile on your face.

Another month that my son beat me ... but I'm working on it

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

Congrats to Joe.

Sure would be nice to see what calibers everybody is shooting.

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

I wondered what happened to them? They weren't on their website either. I liked that part showing what everyone was using, especially with so many new calibers being used.

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

I agree i would like to see the calibers also!!

Well thats odd. They aren't listed on the website.

I guess one sore vagina ruins it for everybody.

Here I thought this shooting thing was a chance to have a little fun and leave "the office" at the office. Guess I have to be professional on the range with all my "friends" from now on.

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

Last weekend was my first time shooting a match at Rayner's, I had a blast and will definitely be back next month..I didn't do as well as i would have liked, but I'll keep working on it! Thanks to everyone that shot saturday and made it a pleasant experience, minus the weather!

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

In case anyone wants to know. I shot a 7 wsm that didn't cheat the wind like its supposed too. Or maybe I didn't guess it right. Oh well.

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

Dustin, Tom and Dale said a new shooter from near us shot Saturday. We usually try to venture out every couple of weeks for a bit of practice and tweaking. You're more than welcome to come along if you want. There are quite a few of us here in St. Clairsville.

Me and my son both shot 260's, only difference being his barrel was twice as long as mine. Wonder if I need a shoulder stock to look more professional?

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

The way you shot on Sunday with that short barrel I don't think you need to change a thing!! Nice shooting in the wind!

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

Okay, I have requested from the Rayners a copy of the scores with the individual calibers listed. They gave it to me under one condition... That I make it PERFECTLY CLEAR that the calibers listed are the works of the individual shooters at the match. THE RAYNERS ARE IN NO WAY RESPONSABLE FOR THE "CHILDISH, IMMATURE OR OTHERWISE UNPROFESSIONAL" ACTIONS OF THE SHOOTERS WHO ATTEND THEIR MATCHES. If this is unclear please send me a pm and I can state it in a way that may be easier to understand. So, without further ado............

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

Topstrap, yes Tom and another gentleman told me there were quite a few of you guys around St. Clairsville, and up and down SR7. I live over in Wheeling, and would be more than interested in tagging along with you guys for practice days! Just let me know when, and thanks for the offer! Apparently I missed some craziness on Sunday from the sounds of some of the posts. Lol.

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

I plan on going to my first match next month. I'm just south of Cambridge off of I-77 (Senaca Lake). Please let me know when you guys are going for a practice day on the weekend and I will meet up with you. I'd love to go and get familiar with the range before the match.

There is a group of guys going there on May 5th. Listed in the "members link up" section of the site under Ohio Shoot.

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

We're also planning on being there on May 5th with some friends. Everyone is invited even if you've never shot past 100 yards and want to start getting your feet wet. Should be lots of guns and equipment to look at and shoot and also lots of help for those that have questions.

I also think Tom and Carolyn are planning to have some type of eats available for purchase. Thought I'd also mention try to get there early so all the groups can get started early, the same targets at 500 and 600 yards become 900 and 1000 yards on top the hill so shooters can't be on the bottom half when shooters move up to the top of the hill later on in the day.

Re: Rayners April 1000 yard match results

I hope to make it. Do you walk between positions? The reason I ask is I was going to bring both of my rifles, but I don't think I could manage lugging both around.
