I've started collecting parts for my first custom build. I'm building a 7mm wsm on a Winchester Model 70 action. I just aquired a Mcmillian A3 stock that is in the process of being bedded and having pillars installed so my next part to buy is a barrel and then I want to have the action blueprinted. I'm trying to find out what would be the best length of barrel to go with that would work best with the 7wsm? I don't want to go over 26". I'm using this rifle for my hunting/target rifle. Weight is not an issue for me. I've been wanting to learn to shoot out to at least 1000 yrds. I am thinking that I need to go with a 1/8 or 1/9 twist so that I can shoot the 180 grain Bergers or something simular. So to recap my question is what barrel length, what twist, what contour and is it worth it to go to the 5R rifling. Thanks in advance for your help.
