If this has been covered, I apologize. Most of the load data I found was for the older 1-12 twist and I'd like to get some data with the 1-10 twist.

If you could post which 300gr. bullet your using along with powder, OAL, and the velocities and accuracy results you have obtained.

I've been playing with the Berger 300gr. OTM's loaded to magazine lentgh with the COAL, which gave me the best results, which were sub moa with certain loads.

My loads so far are:

1)
Primer: Federal 215M
Powder Retumbo 87.0gr.
Brass: Lapua
bullet: Berger OTM 300gr.
Velocity: 2573
Accuracy: 3/4"

2)
Primer: Federal 215M
Powder: Retumbo 88.0gr.
Brass: Lapua
bullet: Berger OTM 300gr.
Velocity: 2605
Accuracy: 1"

3)
Primer: Federal 215M
Powder: RE22
Brass: Lapua
bullet: Berger OTM 300gr.
Velocity: 2542
Accuracy: 1"

I've shot some factory Corbon 300gr. and they were sub 1/2" and 2830fps.

All the rounds seem to leave slight ejectory marks, is this normal? I have no other issues then seeing the ejector mark which seems odd on the slower loads.

I'd like to obtain consistent sub 1/2" moving at about 2750fps or higher if no pressure signs are noticed. I'm planning on trying the Scenars and SMK's (if I can ever find any).

CCI 34
lapua brass full resized
300 SMK
91.6 H-1000
3.71 oal .006 off lands
even .001 seating depth made a significant difference

it has done under 1/2 moa a couple times at 600 - other times, not as good

Re: TRG-42 .338 load data request using .300gr

George,

thanks for the info. At .006 I take it you are single loading it and not mag loading it? What was your velocity?

Re: TRG-42 .338 load data request using .300gr

I tested the 300smk with Retumbo from 87gr to 92.5gr, and it shoots all them sub-moa easily. With 91gr, I printed a 1/6 moa group @ 600 yards.

Ammo is loaded to magazine length.

I get a shiny circular mark from the ejector on my casehead every time, with every powder I've used, even with starting loads, so I'm not worrying about it anymore. The casehead is NOT flowing into the ejector hole, and the mark is NOT raised metal.

still fits/functions in both of my magazines ( so did to the lands)

I use .385 G7 BC worked backwards with the ballistic calculator from 25 to 800 yds to get MV 2782

Re: TRG-42 .338 load data request using .300gr

Thank you this should be very helpful. Does anyone know where I can find some SMK's in stock? And does anyone have load data for the Scenars as I can find them in stock.

Thanks

Re: TRG-42 .338 load data request using .300gr

they do seem to be gone everywhere, if you want 50 or so SMK for testing I could send them
