YHM didn't release this until after I bought my qd hiders but I'd like to make the switch. Anyone have hands-on with em?

That's disappointing. It doesn't mention anything on their website about it, just let me add it to my cart and start the checkout process. Are those the only 2 available for the yhm cans? I thought I read something about a PWS somewhere.

Re: Thoughts on Phantom 762 qd brake

when I bought my 7.62Ti last week my dealer said he had them in stock. that was the silencer shop

Re: Thoughts on Phantom 762 qd brake

Sounds like conflicting stories on availability?
I noticed them on YHM's site too, but have not tried one out yet.

I'm in the same boat as OP. I'd like to hear how these perform vs the hiders.

Re: Thoughts on Phantom 762 qd brake

I purchased mine from the silencership last week and ran it this weekend. I did reduce felt recoil considerably compared to the QD flash hider. I would say a reduction of 25%-35% according to my noncalibrated shoulder. More comfortable range sessions and I honestly could not tell if the report was of more volume than it was before.

Glad to see a 30cal brake come out for the YHM Phantom's. I have quite a few and their weakest link has always been the mount, you were constricted to having one choice. I am always in favor of multiple mounting solutions!

Bravo' thanks for the quality pictures and feedback on the recoil.

KYS338, I noticed you had your 300WM Surgeon 1086 for sale listed with a brake, I assumed that was a hider, but interested parties might want to know.

Re: Thoughts on Phantom 762 qd brake

I bought two of them from the YHM website a month or two ago, and yes they are way more effective than the flash hider. Now they need to make one for the 1/2" threads for my AR.

Video attached...the brake action is towards the end...with wildlife involved. Weapon doesn't move much and I don't have much of a load on the bipod...let the video load to 720p or 1080p and you'll see some bullet trace.

So it seems to offer marginal recoil management? For $5 more, any improvement seems like a no brainer.

Re: Thoughts on Phantom 762 qd brake

Hi everyone, I bought the yhm phantom in 338 mag and it sounds great on my 20" factory 308 Remington. It's still at my dealer but he let me bang some steel with it right after I bought it, then turned it back in. Anyway I kept the brake went home and shot it on paper and my 100yd zero had raised about 10" and my groups onened up to about 1.5". With my light weight Barrett brake my rifle would shoot consitontly about 5/8" at 100. It seems the weight of the phantom brake is messing up my harmonics as I was expecting impact to be low vs high. Haven't shot on paper yet with the suppressor so Mabey that will calm it down, if not I'll have to change my load which is nothing fancy 46.5 gn varget, 168 seria mk. Anyone else have to change their load with the extra weight?

Have you shot the 338 can on a rifle chambered in 338? What's your barrel contour? Also, did you have someone go over the threads on your muzzle? Factory threads tend to be shoddy and could degrade accuracy if they're not cleaned up or damage your suppressor.

Re: Thoughts on Phantom 762 qd brake

No I haven't shot any 338 through it, I was planing on 30 cal suppressor but the 338 was in stock so I thought it would give my another option for the future, and to my ears it sounded really good on my 308, it was more suppression than I was expecting for full power loads. And no I didn't have my threads checked as it is a 20" factory rem and marked AAC , since it was made to be suppressed I would think rem would Take extra care to be sure their straight, but then I have a rem 40x that has the scope bases drilled so crooked I had to turn my Burris inserts vertical to get sighted in without using all of my windage in my night force, so Mabey this would be worth checking. I'm also hoping the weight of the phantom will calm my barrel down because it shot poor with the weight of the yhm brake alone, I'm guessing it around 8-10oz and my little Barrett brake is probley around 2oz,, we will see in about 4months hopefully. Any body have to change there load shooting suppressed to deal with the odd harmonics??

Re: Thoughts on Phantom 762 qd brake

I also have a 700 AAC/SD with a YHM .338 brake.
I did have to adj. my handloads slightly after replacing the JP Enterprises brake with the YHM, but I did not lose any accuracy.
I'm expecting to have to adj. the load again after my paperwork comes back and I get the suppressor.
