Did a little searching and couldn't find anything, but has anyone ever taken their AI or AW out of the AICS stock and put it a more traditional stock like Manners or McMillan?

Reason I ask is I got behind my first AIAE the other day and I REALLY liked the action, the barrel profile, and some other things but just wasn't feeling the chassis.
I would like to buy an AIAE in 260, sell the chassis and get a Manners stock but will they inlet for it?

Befor anyone suggest a Badger M2008, IMHO it's not the same. I have felt several Badgers and they were no where near as smooth as the AIAE I felt.

    Any (constructive) input is appreciated.

Good question. I wrestled with the AI stock for months but finally shot the AI stock enough to get used to it. Now other stocks don't feel right. I went the the .260 AIAE route and will never look back. You will not be disappointed.

If you don't like the thumbhole stock, have you considered replacing the skins with Viper Skins? That will give you a pistolgrip instead.

The grip is "ok" but the forend is what I don't like at all. It's a little heavier too, I'm a small guy so weight is an issue for me when it comes to shooting off hand or standing. I want the barreled action in a T4-A 90% carbon shell

Would you have any trouble fitting a bottom metal to it? Just wondering if any dimensions are different that might not allow it.

    Here's the link:

    http://www.victorcompanyusa.com/viperskins.html

It replaces the plastic cover (skins) on the AI chassis. Changes the forend profile.

If you want to fit it to a Manners or McMillan stock, it shouldn't be too difficult. Just get an unlet blank, send barreled action, stock blank and $$$ to gunsmith with CNC mill.... and wait. Might have to fabricate DBM bottom metal or cannibalize the existing chassis to create a mini-chassis to glue into the stock.

Re: AIAE Barreled Action ever bedded In other stocks?

to quote someone on the forum, might've been Lowlight, can't remember, but it goes, "If you have to shoot your AW/AE off-hand, something has gone horribly wrong". Basically, none of the tactical stocks and rifles are designed for offhand shooting. Rest the gun on something!
The chassis is heavy due to the aluminum block running the full length from forend to butt.

Re: AIAE Barreled Action ever bedded In other stocks?

I agree, shooting offhand would be a last ditch effort. I really don't see to much of a savings on weight by changing out the stock. Maybe 2 pounds at most. So you drop the weight from 18 pounds loaded to 16 pounds.

That said now your gun is muzzle heavy. I find a 20 inch ae balances better than something in a light weight stock.
