All,

I am looking to upgrade my 700PSS 308win rifle stock and I narrow it down to Whiskey 3 and AICS AX chassis. I would like to get your option about Pro and Con.

Thanks

Re: Whiskey 3 chassis/AICS AX chassis

They're both good-to-go. What feature set do you need? AX is more expensive out of the box but comes standard with the folder and lots of rail space. W3 is less expensive but you'll have to option the folder and extra rail space.

There's a significant difference in feel between the AX and W3, especially in the grip. With both of these grips people seem to love or hate them. Bottom line is you should try before you buy if possible.

If you go with the AX, you may need different rings to clear the forearm / rail assembly.

Thx. I cam currently own Aics 1.5 and I don't use the thumd hole. I'm looking for lite weight and easy to handle

Re: Whiskey 3 chassis/AICS AX chassis

I have the KRG stock and it is somewhat thicker than the AI stock at the hand-grip area. If you have smaller hands and like to wrap your hand around the grip you should check out the KRG before you buy. Alternatively, if you use a grip-style like Jason advocates on this forum (with fingers only on the grip) the KRG is a good way to go as it is completely flat in front providing a good platform for your fingers. Just my .02

Re: Whiskey 3 chassis/AICS AX chassis

My impressions after shooting my W3 folder for the past two weeks.

I am built weird, wide shoulders, short arms, so all the adjustments I actually have a stock that fits perfect.

I also have big hands and also shoot with my thumb up, and it works perfect

It is SOLID, when I run out of ammo in the zombie apocalypse I can use the stock in "Davey Crockett's last stand at the Alamo" fashion.

It's heavier than the Manners it replaced.

The cheek piece hurts my face, no due to it not fitting correctly during recoil, its just a hard little piece that hurts my cheek bone.

I have not had a folding bolt gun before, it is nice though in two weeks I haven't had a need for it, though the folder block does block left handed shooting if you wrap your thumb around the back, the fixed version does not have this problem

I am hoping they come up with a TRG like bipod adapter spigot

It came with a cool sticker!

Just realized my grammar sucks when I'm buzzed....

Also I bolted it straight in without a skim bed. No real accuracy change with a skim bedded manners..

Re: Whiskey 3 chassis/AICS AX chassis

I am biased.....because I own a KRG. I really like the fit and function of the Whiskey 3. There is really nothing that I do not like about it. I have climbed behind an AIAX, and for me it just did not fit....for me. I really didn't like the pistol grip on the AX, but I do love the grip area of the KRG. I do alot of weakside shooting, so for me I chose to go with the non-folding version as "Beepy" mentioned the "Thumb Up" shooting style. I always called it a thumb shelf.

Also, the KRG crew is the "Real Deal". I know that Justin was or is military, there for this American Made chassis is built and designed by real shooters for shooters. There really isn't anything on the chassis I would change, we tried to lighten mine, and came to find out, there is a maximum of ounces capable of being removed.

Well there is my 2 cents.
