Why don't you call them up? The Manners team are great and can set you in the right direction.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

i talked with them a while but i wanted some real feild imput .

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

Only you can ever know which of the two stocks you will like best. They are totally different configurations.
Ask yourself if you've ever gotten behind a thumbhole stock before. If so, how did you like it?
The T5 is a very nice stock but not for everyone.
The only suggestion I will make here is that you think about adding the adjustable cheek to which ever you get. Expensive, yes, but worth it IMHO.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

The T2 and the T5 are completely different animals. The T2 having a vertical( or at least near vertical) grip, angled butt stock without the hook. the T5 being a thumb-hole with the hook. I have a T5A and absolutely love it, but some will say it has its limitations. I have a T2A ordered, but it will see most of its use on bags shooting prairie dogs. What is the intended purpose of your rifle?

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

I am 6foot 2 and the T5 fits me really well but the T4 is perfect, i tried a friends T2 and it is just a bit too small/thin for me.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

I really loved my T5A's, but they have recently been replaced with T4A's and I'm very happy with the change.

Take the above advice and get the "A" version on whatever you choose so that you'll have adjustable comb height.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

Call or PM Tom and he will send you a stock or stocks to feel out at home. All you pay is $15 bucks or so to ship them back insured.

I did this when debating on a stock, i though i wanted a T5 but after handling it i realized it wasn't for me and Tom sent me a T2 and that thing is money. Fit me perfect. The CS i got from Manners was excellent and went above and beyond to answer all my questions and concerns.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

T2, to me it's very similar to a Mcmillan A5

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

Thats good to know. Wish I knew they had that service last year when trying to decide on what Manners stock.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

Being a taller person with large hands I would have to say the t4 is a better fit. But that is just me. And I have handled all the manners stocks. Of the two mentioned i like the t5 better the grip feels more natural to me. hope it helps.

+1

I am a big fan of the T2A, but i dont think there is really a wrong answer here. If you find out you dont like the one you get, it will sell fast here on the forum and you are only out the wait time for a new one.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

I have a T5A that was on a rifle when I bought and it is a very good stock. I would prefer a T4A as the thumb hole changes my hold but I am adjusting to it.

Get the KMW check piece as mentioned earlier you will love it!

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

I am rather ambivalent about the adjustable cheek piece. I think they are great if you are buying a rifle that will be used by more than 1 person (i.e., LE or military). If you are the only person that is going to use it, for a fraction of the cost and good bit of weight off the stock you can use a large triad tactical stock pack. They come with velcro shims that put the comb height just where you want it. Very handy accessory in its own right without the comb shims. If weight and cost aren't so much a concern then go ahead and splurge on a KMW check piece - it's YOUR money so do what YOU want with YOUR rifle.

I have found the thumbhole stocks to be a love/hate feature. I hate them but I have friends that swear by them. If I was you, I would try one out and make sure that's what you want before you spend the money on it. I'm glad I did.

Re: NEED ADVICE on manners

I have both. I am more comfortable behind the T5A. IT just fits me better. But if I had to pick another it would be the T4A. With the introduction of the folders though, I have to go with the TF4 or TF1. The TF1 is the best stock that Manners has put out IMHO.
