F T/R Competition Ranges and shooting matches in New York State?

I'm going to be spending a lot of time this summer and fall working in Sledpy Hollow/Tarry Town, New York and was wondering if anyone knew of any ranges within driving distance. I found the 1000 yard Forbes range, but I'm not sure if I'll be better off joining a sportsman club or what. Being from Missouri it will deffinently be a bit of a change in location! Also wondering if there were any members in the area?

I live across the river in rockland county. There is a range called blue mountain I think. It's near Indian point. There is a indoor range on this side , Davis sports shop in goshen. I am trying to join the Forbes range,waiting to hear back from them. it's pretty far from here about two hours drive time.

It seams most of the ranges around here are private. Your stuck on the wrong side of the river. Driving time and money spent traveling around here is a real problem. If you find a range over 100yds please post the name and location. New York is not a gun friendly state. Stinking lousy politicians want to take our guns away from us .

If you need help navigating around here or have questions I can give you my e-mail and phone number. Be prepared for bridge tolls and traffic. Get yourself a speed pass for your truck it saves you lots of time and is cheaper .

Not all of us new Yorkers are a$$holes. Have an open mind when you get here. People here can be nice and polite but not like out west were it seams everyone is friendly. I have lived in new York on and off for 45 years and would move if I could. Welcome to the big apple....

Is Camp Smith still an active shooting site? My Elder Brother lives in Westchester County and occasionally shoots at Blue Mountain. NY Highpower website

Not sure about camp smith. Any idea on how to find out if we can shoot there other then asking at the gate ? The picatiny arsenal is not far from here, about 45 mins. Anyone know if vets can go there and shoot ?

The Picatinny folks shoot nearby at Cherry Ridge. Fabulous set of ranges, used to belong when I lived in North Jersey.
