i re-barreled my howa , its been a little while but if I remember correctly it is metric threads. The lathe I got requires a different process for metric threads. pretty sure i had to do it.
They're metric, if you have to change out your gears to cut metric pratice on a piece first to make sure it cuts the right threads. Its easier to setup the lathe to cut in reverse and just thread towards the end of the shank.

Dont forget to turn your tool upside down and run the chuck backwards. Otherwise it will cut left hand threads. This actualy works well as some lathes need to stay engaged to cut Metric Threads...but not all of them.
