I need the barrel shank specs for a Howa 1500 receiver. My lathe will not cut metric threads and am hoping the Howa's are American thread.

I would recut the internal threads in a lathe with a boring bar and single point new internal threads. Remington or nesika threads will work.

Thanks for the advice, Gents

i re-barreled my howa , its been a little while but if I remember correctly it is metric threads. The lathe I got requires a different process for metric threads. pretty sure i had to do it.

They're metric, if you have to change out your gears to cut metric pratice on a piece first to make sure it cuts the right threads. Its easier to setup the lathe to cut in reverse and just thread towards the end of the shank.

Just my .02

Dont forget to turn your tool upside down and run the chuck backwards. Otherwise it will cut left hand threads. This actualy works well as some lathes need to stay engaged to cut Metric Threads...but not all of them.
