Barska and Counter Sniper optics are to be avoided. You will get a beating like a red headed step child using those brand names here.

There are suitable optics for your use that are reasonably priced. I see you're from Canada. It will depend what is available to you, but Barska is not a brand that's suitable.

TAC OPS Kilo

Shouldn't Osprey be one of those brand names as well?

The above mentioned scopes are specifically designed for the following (shhhh, secret squirrel tier 0 operators) applications.

Re: Barska Swat series scopes

Seriously though wreck, if you're on a budget, check out the offerings from Sightron. I recently purchased one of their 10-50x60 models and I'm very happy with it.

Man if i had a knife like that i wouldn't need any guns...

That's the only thing you read? Lol we compete at 1000 yards with .223. It's not ideal to do it with an AR platform, but it's not that difficult.

Re: Barska Swat series scopes

223 can make 1k depending on where you are, how long your barrel is and how much varget you can put behind an 80smk.

FWIW for 300 and less I'd probably get a 10X super sniper or bushnell but I have no idea what sort of scope availability or prices you have going in Canuckistan.

However, to the op; a cheap scope like the barfska mounted on, beside, or near a "cheap" .223 , would be better suited as a leg on my 1k target stand rather than lobbing shots at it.

Re: Barska Swat series scopes

You might also consider looking at the used scopes in the "Optics for Sale" section. Your $$$ might go a little further that way.

Re: Barska Swat series scopes

Im gonna have to cast another "no" vote. I had a barska a few years back, what a horrendous pos! Wouldnt hold proper zero on a .223, and glass quality was super low...for the money id agree with gstaylorg and check the b/s/t or even swfa's samplelist.

Re: Barska Swat series scopes

Get an NV mount, and mount the Barska behind the CounterSniper. The CS already has double mil-dots, so now you'll be able to range while you range while you range for your SWAT Counter Sniping operations.

In all seriousness though, 10x will get you to 1k, so +1 for the SuperSniper- although now the name seems kinda derp-y as well it's at a higher quality level.

Re: Barska Swat series scopes

A paper towel roll, painted black, with pube reticle, rubber-banded to your rifle would be a better use of resources than a Barska SWAT.

If on a tight budget, SWFA SS10X, $300 (if they ship to Canada), it'll shoot much better than you and will get you to 900 yards. Mechanicals are very reliable, glass is adequate.

Or, for $100, I'll sell you the paper towel scope.

couldn't have said it better myself. and i'm sitting her almost rolling!!!

also, i forgot to add my vote: at that price range why not look into a Vortex Viper non-pst or like Rancid said, the SWFA's? I heard they're great.

Re: Barska Swat series scopes

I detect a distinct dislike like of Barfka scopes. Maybe I am wrong they sure look good in the dealers display case and would make very nice wall hangers.
