First time poster, so be gentle. I have a S&W M&P15 sport that has a fixed front sight post, I am about to purchase a 10x42 swfa super sniper for my 30th birthday my question is that if I mounted this as low as possible would I be able to "see around " the fixed front sight base? Or would changing the gas block be a must with this setup. I have a 6x scope that has a slight ghost of the front sight now but not bad would 10x eliminate this or magnify this effect? I appreciate the forum and any responses.

Thanks

Re: newbie swfa question

I have one AR in the same situation, except I had a 3-9 on it at one point. When the mag was set from 3-6, the post would come into view, but after 6, the magnification viewed right past the front sight post. Then again, this was only one scope...

Re: newbie swfa question

SWFA 10 X is a good scope. They are about to come out with with a mrad adjustment in their classic line. I believe I would go for this instead of the 1/4 moa adjustments.

Re: newbie swfa question

You won't notice the FSB. It magnifies at the lower powers. So you would see it on a red dot sight and would disappear eventually at higher magnifications. I know this because I have an EOtech and 3x setup and run a DBAL in front. With just the EOtech I can see the adjustment knobs but when I transition to 3x the knobs disappear
