I've been getting ready to pul the trigger on the new SWFA 1-6x24 scope and this thing caught my eye. It's the new Sightron SIII 1-7x24 IR4A scope.

Looking for opinions and information on how it stacks up spec and feature wise to the SWFA. The street price on the Sightron is in the low to mid $700.00 range.

The reticle seems lacking what would you be using it for?

I didn't know about this one. Looks like a decent choice and I like the 7 power. But the reticle is boring to me. I too have been hot on the SS 1-6x and I love it's reticle and how it works in the FFP. I still think the SS 1-6 > than this 1-7. Especially with the $200 discount to be had now. I ordered the SS 1-6 already within 40 minutes of SWFA activating the 5000 coupon code. I like it so much I am going to wait for it. It's just a matter of your resolve to stick it out and get the better scope from a proven quality provider. I don't know anything about sightron quality though. But I'm too sold on and biased now with SWFA offering.

Purely target shooting, 100 - 300 yds.

I was a bit concerned about the choice of reticle too. Since this is a brand new offering from Sightron, perhaps other reticle choices are around the corner.

The turrets are not suited to running the scope with the caps off if you were planning on doing that. These use the same turrets as the capped scopes in the Bushnell 6500 series. They have a pull-up to re-zero "feature" that has a very loose detent. It would be extremely easy to lose your zero running the scope uncapped. Could easily happen trying to make correction in a hurry also...
