Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

I am thinking of putting a 1x4 scope on my Scar 16. My questions are. Everything I have seen says the same height should apply to an AR-15 as well.

Is there a reason to use a one piece mount over high quality rings like Badger or NF?

What Ring height?

If you use a one piece system, what do you use and any pros or cons

Thanks

Re: Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

Nothing wrong at all with running standard scope rings on a Scar I run a Larue SPR 1.5 with Vortex PST 1-4 on a Scar only advantage with one piece would be QD...But that height is perfect..

Re: Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

I have a 1-4 accupoint in a GG&G FLT accucam QD. I have no complaints, it's a really solid mount.

Re: Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

I'm going to be getting probably QD Rings can't remember the company name but when I shoot 3 gun I can just take my scope off and replace with another optic or shoot Heavy Metal.

Re: Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

I have a nightforce 1-4 with a larue SPR...very nice, no complaints

Re: Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

I have a 1-4 on a Larue SPR mount on my Scar 17s. Love it...

Re: Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

+1 on the Larue SPR. I'm running a 2.5-10 Vortex PST on my SPR, and it works great.

i am running the NF NXS 1-4X24 as well on the Larue mount on my LMT CQB no problems at all

Re: Scar, Ar-15 optics questions

I had a Leupold 1.5-5x on an SCAR at one point, mounted in a Larue SPR mount, and it worked well.

I remember wishing it had more magnification than 5 power while grouping at 100meters. The BDC knobs were there, but they are a little slower to use. I don't know if I'd recommend it. The gun is probably perfect for a Specter DR 1-4 with the ACOG style reticle but the cost of that optic is huge.

The ACOG reticles are really efficient in that they range the target during sight alignment.
