I have a Nightforce 8-32x56 #C348 mounted on my Surgeon .300 Win mag. (built in 20 MOA rail).

According to the Nightforce website, I should have 65 MOA of total elevation. Im zeroed at 100 yards. So, 65 moa / 2 = 32.5 + 20 moa rail = 52.5 moa of up elevation is what I should have.

I only have 38.5 moa of up elevation. Is there something wrong? Or am I calculating this incorrectly?

Thanks,

Bob

Your zero wont necessarily be right in the middle of your adjustment range.

Re: NF NXS 8-32X56 total elevation question

When they put them together at the factory they don't necessarily get the erector centered for a 100 yard zero, in fact I'm pretty certain it's just random.

My 32BR only has 50 MOA total travel and with no rail it zeros at 38 MOA from the bottom, doing that math you find only 12 MOA of uppage, which is why mine rides on a 30MOA rail.

I had this same problem for my 32x went with a badger ordinance 40 moa base and now I have 65 moa

now I only wish I had bought the 22x so I can hit a mile

The only way to truly know is to dial up and count. After all that research, it's a little surprising to hear you went with MOA knobs.

Re: NF NXS 8-32X56 total elevation question

Just got off the phone with NF and they said that is the bottom end of the spectrum of adjustment. I should be somewhere in the mid to high 40's.

They gave me a few trouble shooting tips:

Switch the rings from front to back and back to front, try different points on the rail, if that fails, send it in for evaluation..

Re: NF NXS 8-32X56 total elevation question

Had the same things here on a savage 110, but only had about 20 moa of total adjustment from a 200 yard zero. After reading through some things, I moved my scope a bit farther forward, and moved the front ring as far as I could forward. I'm now getting around 32 moa in adjustment.

Re: NF NXS 8-32X56 total elevation question

not the same rifle but I have a 8-32x56 NXS on a nightforce 20 MOA unimount on my 6.5 grendel ar15, I have 41 MOA up from a 100 yard zero. thats about what I wanted since I need 38 MOA to get to 1000 yards with the grendel witch I dont think I would even shoot that far but its about the max for the rifle.

Re: NF NXS 8-32X56 total elevation question

I have the same scope. On my AR-10 I had to install a 20MOA riser to reach 1,000 yds. I don't know how much but I do have some elev. left over when I turn up to reach 1,000
