Re: which sunglasses?

No question here. Costa all they way. 580 glass if u dont mind price. U will never be without a pair afterward. They have ton of styles. I wear the man-o-war. Like the removable side pieces for ridin harley. Blue mirror.

Re: which sunglasses?

I wear Costas and they are the best sunglasses I have ever put on. Once I started wearing them, I would try other glasses (Oakley, Ray Ban, etc.) and they were all a distant second to Costas. Just make sure you get the 580G lenses. They are the most expensive, but definitely worth it above the plastic lenses. To tell the truth, I will wear them in low light situations also and they seem to brighten things up for me, making it easier to drive in the rain and at dusk/dawn. It is like seeing the world in HD--there are times I walk inside and forget I have them on!

To save some money, check out eBay to buy them. The retail is $249, but I've found them on eBay for around $150-$160. Hope this helps.

Re: which sunglasses?

+1 on costa 580s. The copper lenes with green coating is awesome for everyday wear. Dark enough for bright son but light enough to drive in the rain and until sunset. The gray with blue coating are darker and better for super bright situations but not as good for all around wear.

Greatest sunglasses I've ever had including oakleys revos and others.

Re: which sunglasses?

I'm with Big Bo. Maui Jim's are my fav. I also had a pair of Revos and they were great as well.

Re: which sunglasses?

Another view, PanOptics. They have excellent design and protection with removable gasgets/cups for activities involving wind.

Re: which sunglasses?

Costas all the way. Check your healthcare or vision plan if you have one, you can usually get the Costas as your frame allowance for the year. Had a pair of Ocean Waves that I like but the Costa's clarity is noticeably better.

I Got my ESS through Nomad. Great glasses, great protection. Some ass hat walked off with my bag at the range one day and I lost the case for the glasses with the bag. Called ESS to order a new case and the girl on the phone just sent me a set for nothing!!! Even sent it priority mail!!

Re: which sunglasses?

I have had a pair of costa 580's for 4 years and the glass has held up well. Considering I have dropped them half a dozen times, they do not have any wear or scratches

Oakley and Maui Jim do.

Re: which sunglasses?

Rudy Project offer great protection and lots of styles to choose from also.

Re: which sunglasses?

I wear three different pair of Oakley's 16 hours a day and love them all. If I could just find some sleeping glasses on standard issue, I will be set.

Re: which sunglasses?

I love my Rudy Project, Rydon's. You can get them in Rx. And if you look around you can find 40% off codes. I got mine for $279 with 5 lenses.

Re: which sunglasses?

Another vote for Rudy's here...been wearing them for about 10 years now...I prefer the brown lenses.

I'll chip in my $0.02...I had lasik performed over 7 years ago. For those who don't know, you're eyes are super sensitive to bright light post lasik.

My Dr. recommended high quality UV & Polarized sunglasses to protect my eyes. His recommendation were Maui Jim's & Revo's. I wore Revo's for 7 years and now have Maui Jim's - both are fantastic IMHO.

Re: which sunglasses?

I've worn the same pair of Oakley Flak Jackets for the last 6 years. Love the fit, and the lenses are easy to change, long lasting, and impact and shatter rated.

They are also starting to offer the transitions lenses too so that may be pretty nice as well.

I went to the sunglass store and told them I want sunglasses that are Z87 rated since I shoot a lot and spend some time in places where the rating is a must, and they also need to be polarized. He took a demo pair of Flak-jackets, dropped them on the floor and stomped on them. They broke into a few pieces, and he picked them up and snapped them back together. Good as new.

I've acquired a pair of Costa's since then, and use them as backups. The lenses are about the same as the Oakleys, but the frames feel cheaper.

I would NEVER own glass lense Costa's. Ive personally seen a pair of them shatter when my friend slightly flexed the frames to put them on his head. I've known of two others to have broken from less than a 6" drop.

Re: which sunglasses?

+1 Maui Jims. By far better polarized lens than oakley. One of the best polarized lenses for the money IMO.

Re: which sunglasses?

I've been wearing polarized Ray-Ban Predators for about the last 10 years or longer.

Classic look, great glass, and the last me about 4 yrs a pair till I lose them.

Shooting I wear Z87 rated clear Oakley Ballistic M frames. (the smooth ones w/o all the ridges on them) The kit has a grey lens too but I never use it.

Re: which sunglasses?

American Optics "pilot". Classic design the Rayban Aviators copied. Glass, polarized lenses, American made, ~$50.

Re: which sunglasses?

I am a very big fan of Costa, but my eye doctor is not a costa dealer and the closest one to me wants me to do a full exam blablabla so i am not going to spend my money there...I wear oakleys

Re: which sunglasses?

Not the most popular, and im not sure they're still being made... But I never leave the house without my UA Scepters. I love them. They're not my most expensivee pair of sun glasses but they fit my face like a freakin glove.

+1 for the Predators for daily use
