So I know there are a ton of you guys out there with the 110ba in 338. What has your personal experience with the 300gr bullets been with those three bullets. Has there been a clear winner of the 3 for this particular rifle? Looks like the smk and scenars have about the same BC's and the berger has a much higher one. I know from reading the bergers are much more picky though. I'm most likely buying all the components to tomorrow, and it looks like the 300smk's I was originally gonna get are out. After looking at prices, it really isn't that more expensive to go with the scenars or bergers.

So whats everyones pick for the 110ba?

+1 for the Scenars, I got the new OTM's to shoot fine out of my BA but the Scenars are my go to bullet.

You just had to come in and make the decision harder! haha, just kidding thanks for the input.

So your saying the scenars shoot better out of your 110ba than the bergers?

The best I could get with the new OTM's is .5MOA and that's good out of a factory tube but that is .030" off the lands and I had to single feed. That's not all bad either because the trade off is better BC with the OTM's. I had very good luck with the Berger 250 OTM's but had to single feed them as well. After saying all of that the short answer is YES the Scenars shoot better .4 MOA and they are not fussy on seating lengths.015" off the lands and load from the mag. The BC is not as good as the Bergers but.... The Scenars shoot better, more friendly reloading and I can use my mag... so I have to dial up a couple more clicks big deal.

Wish I read your reply before I bought bergers! Oh well, I'll give them a go and if they don't work well then I will get the scenars next time.

I had darn good results with SMK300s but the new Burger HB shotnexcellent as well with my pet load!

Re: 300gr berger vs sierra vs lapua for savage 110ba

One thing I like about the Scenars is they seem to be the least jump distance sensitive of the high BC bullets on the market, I have seen this in the 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 308 and 338 bullets. I like the insensitivity for two reasons: I find them easier to find loads that shoot great and as I burn out my throat in a match (F-class) I do find myself chasing the throat like with some other bullets. Another great point is you will have a hard time finding a mass produced bullet that is more uniform and consistent.

    Just my thoughts,

I was able to reach all the way to the lands and still feed from the magazine for the 300 gn Bergers, SMKs, and Scenars. Am I missing something here?

I haven't shot my 338 yet but have the SMK's, OTM's and Scenars on hand as well as the Hornady 285gr BTHP. The OTM's are no where close to magazine length at the lands while all of the others are. I will likely use them as single shot only and figure out which of the others work best. I hope to start this effort tomorrow or Sunday.

Re: 300gr berger vs sierra vs lapua for savage 110ba

In my rifle, the Bergers are over 100fps faster than the Sierra`s. I have noticed that in quite a few 338`s. The Lapua Scenar`s are actually .339 diameter and are slower than both.

That's good for you but not out of my Savage chamber I had to single feed.

I am getting better accuracy out of my 338 edge with the SMK over the berger.
