I picked up my Les Baer TRS 1.5" yesterday and took her to the range straight from the gun shop.

I put 500 rounds down range in about 3 hours and couldnt wipe the smile from my face for hours after. I fed it 250 Federal American Eagle, 150 Remington UMC, and 100 Winchester white box. Although Les recommends a 3-500 round break in to be completely reliable, this thing had zero hiccups and just ran and ran and ran!

I used 3 Baer mags and 2 Wilson Combat mags and both seem to work flawlessly although the WC seem slightly better constructed. This thing shoots like a dream and I wont miss any of my old pistols and maybe now am ruined from buying any other pistol forever.

I will say to anyone who is looking for a terrific semi custom you should take a long hard look at a Les Baer. The TRS is like a bank fault feels solid as a rock. I dont think you can beat the price vs performance of this gun. Anyhow enough blabbing here's the fun part:

Nice pistol. The last time I had the opportunity to shoot one I didn't have enough experience to tell the difference between a high dollar custom pistol and a less expensive (but not cheap) mass produced pistol. Can you tell the difference?

Guns.

Re: Les Baer TRS post 500 rounds!

TG,

My shooting buddy has a Kimber Pro Raptor II that Ive shot more than a few times and there are a few main differences I notice. When closing the slide when locked to the rear the LB closes like a vault and gives you the utmost confidence.

The overall feel of the gun is tight, solid, and confident. The trigger is the easiest difference, Kimber is nice but has a little take up and not as crisp. The LB breaks like glass and smooth as silk, plus I like the look of the solid trigger.

The fit between the slide and frame is easily noticable just by looking at them. Although the finish on a Les Baer takes a lot of critizism (deserved for a $2000 gun) I'd still say its a little better than a Kimber.

Match barrel, hand built, and hard fitted. Not to mention they look Fing amazing. Its also customized to you IE if you want a naked slide, get one. If you want a skeltonized trigger, get one. You get the point.

The Kimber's are full of MIM parts as well which most if not all customs dont use any!

Although this may sound like I'm ragging on the Kimber, however I'm not. The Raptor II is a great gun and I would have no issues carrying one and have had a hell of a lot of fun shooting one. It just isn't really a close comparison in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

Re: Les Baer TRS post 500 rounds!

Very swanky stocks bro!

Last year I pulled my brand new PMII out of the box and proceeded to run a pile of Federal Match Ball ammo out of it with absolutely no malfs and excellent accuracy!

To celebrate 2011 I bought myself a Les Baer Ultimate Master 6" Longslide! Long live the 1911!!

2 Dogs,

Very nice pair of LB's, I keep trying to talk myself out of a UM but I keep coming back to it.

Either that or a heavyweight monolith.
