I will tell you this it's not easy being a home ffl. I talk to guys all the time, at least 2 a month, who once had FFL01s out of their homes.
Regardless of what you hear, and regardless of what the rules "say". The ATF might grant you a license to satisfy the legality of the issue, but in the long run I wouldn't count on holding it long.
You would not believe the horror stories I have heard from guys who once had their FFL01 and worked from home. The excuses are a dime a dozen why they will pull your license. I don't care what the books say ... if they don't want you to have a license ... they will pull it.
To make a long story short. I have heard of everything from the ATF agent fabricating all out lies, and reporting them, or to doing a 'criminal gun trace' to an FFL just because they read their FFL license # in a distributors books. Believe me ... I could tell you some real horror stories, but will spare you the time now. If you're interested ... PM me.
Finally, with the stories I've heard from once FFL01 holders, you would believe that the whole reason for the ATFs existence was to keep guns out of EVERY American's hands. No joke!
At any rate, whatever you do, never ever ever fall for the "If you agree to never apply for another FFL01 we will not prosecute!" line. It's around every corner, and more prominent than you think. I'm beginning to wonder if it's included in the ATF Field Agent training manual!
