I'm wondering if anyone can answer this from direct personal experience...

Nightforce 5.5-22x56mm mounted on a 20moa rail (or flat rail using a 20moa mount). 100yd zero. How much elevation adjustment is available?

* I know this will vary slightly from rifle to rifle, but just looking for a generality here.

Thanks.

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

Your NightForce NXS has 100 moa of elevation and 60 moa windage.

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

My 20" 308 (2550fps), NXS 5.5-22x50, zeroed at 100 yards, 20 MOA rail. 69 1/2 MOA of up elevation.

That's what I was looking for, thank you.

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

I would get a higher moa base and gain some more moa IMO

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

I think you are going to find that it varies from rifle to rifle. You will have to mount the scope and sight it in at 100 yards and see how much of the elevation remains.Another persons experience is unlikely to translate directly to your gun.

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

my NF 5.5x22 .260 surgeon with integral 20 MOA base has 60 MOA left from my 100yd zero. One whole degree. Good luck

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

The Nightforce has 100MOA total. When you get it its centered 50 up and down. So if you have 20moa rail. You will have 70 up and 30 down. Then you still have to zero it at 100yards and see what you have left over.

I have the F1 in Mils and after 100 yard zero and 20moa mount I have 25mils left over which is roughly 85moa.

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

Thank you for all the responses. This will go on an AW50 .50BMG. All my other optics are S&B, not that familiar with NF but I thought it would make a good .50 optic because of the additional eye relief.

I will surely go with a 30+ MOA rail, just figured most peoples personal data would be based on a 20 MOA rail. I can do the math from there.

Thanks again, very useful info.

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

My 5-22NF NXS is on a 40 moa rail, it has around 95 moa of elevation.

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

How much does the height of the scope above the barrel come into effect when you're trying to squeeze the most moa or mils out of the scope? Looking at some of the rifles on here I see that scopes are nearly touching the barrel while mine sits noticeably higher than others. I have the same NF on an AICS in 1.40 inch rings so I was wondering how much (if any) the .4 or .5 extra inches comes into play?

Re: Nightforce total elevation question

Ultraman, height above bore makes very little difference. The taper/cant has a big effect.
