    So CA
I had to warranty my SWFA SS 5-20x50mm HD Illuminated. Been waiting about a month for the replacement and called in to see when I might see it.

They tell me the hold up is because SWFA has moved production to another factory?

It's still in Japan, it's just somewhere else.

    I wonder what this entails?!

Anyone else hear any news about this?

Me too! Perhaps larger production line? Better build quality?!

Maybe to expand the product line?!

maybe godzilla attacked the old plant, who cares why it is done.

    GOJIRA?!

I care why it was done... and I'm pretty certain others do as well. Thanks.

Warranty issue was that I couldn't get the reticle sharp... out of spec i guess. They took one look at it and told me a replacement would be sent soon as they got one in. Great customer service.

Glad to hear they took care of you. I have heard they have a no BS warranty.

Is the build quality of the existing ones lacking in some way?

Anyway, I guess moving production could result in a quality difference in either direction...

Re: SWFA Moved Scope Production to New Plant?

Knowing Chris Farris an SWFA the quality bar is going to be set VERY high. I hate to hear you had trouble with your 5-20. Love mine.

Re: SWFA Moved Scope Production to New Plant?

Bought two sent both back, loose parallax knobs, felt as though it slipped and caught internally. So YES there is/was issues with the 5x20. They gave me crap on the second return (both were UNmounted) saying they tested it. Refused to pay my shipping etc. Ignored emails and calls with messages left. Finally I confronted them and I got ALL my money back. If they tested the second scope it wasn't enough because after 10 turns of the parallax knob it came loose as well.

Those are the facts, nothing more nothing less. It also keeps me from trying/buying the new 1x6 which i would like to buy. Seems like a nice scope on paper.

That's too bad you were ignored/treated poorly. I had good luck with my first SS and am really looking forward to my SS 1-6. I don't anticipate any problems but, if I was treated that way, first - I'd be grateful I received a full refund and second - I'd move on to another mfg for my next scope too.

Undoubtedly, there will be a slew of folks chiming in who don't mind getting the brush off so I'll say in advance - to each his own.
