Well looks like I broke another Leupold VX-3 on my 378 again.
I need monster scope that can take it.

Funds are limited (imagine that). This thing is a tackdriver and will be used for long range shooting.

Can someone help?

Vortex Viper maybe? I can not afford a Nightforce guys. Not right now.

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

a buddy of mine has a millet on his barrett 50. over 200 shots and still holding zero. it was $450. i own a nightforce but he swears by that scope

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

I'd be tempted to save for a scope that wont break rather than putting cheaper stuff on and replacing every 6 months or whatever it is, how many rounds did the leupy last?
Is this a Weatherby mag or some wildcat?

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

no it has no original parent case. However it was inspired by the .416 rigby and headspacing of the .375 H&H. The .378 has actually created alot of parent wildcat cases. That thing has almost 80lbs of recoil coming back at you!

378 weatherby magnum.

Under 100 shots

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

are you sure that your rings and bases are properly torqued? sounds like there might be some movement and funny business on the scope.

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

Yup solid as a rock.... Anyway

Just talked to Leupold.

The mark 4 is indeed a stronger scope .....BUT the first thing he asked was am I using a lead sled.

I said yes but my gun is braked and it feels like a 7mm rem mag. He said that does not make a difference. The recoil is not going were it is suppose to.
This would trash even a Mark 4.

So there you go!

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

the same humble weaver survived as scout scope on a k98k at every reloading test, even after the k98k base band came loose under recoil_ the same weaver found a place on my first S&W 29, 8-3/8" .44 mag.,until the cheap aftermaket mount self-destroyed under recoil_ now the same humble weaver is mounted on a S&W 29, 10-1/2"heavy barrel,Buehler mount, and works fine_I have and really love german optics but, in my experiences, fixed Weaver scopes (4x,15x,36x)never failed to perform as intended at affordable prices, and never let me down_

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

I have always been told led sleds are hard on scopes. I have a 375 h&h and it does not have a muzzle brake and the VX-3 has held up well.

Re: What scope for a brutal 378?

I know someone with a bushnell 3-12 on a 30-378 hunting rifle. No problems and he loves it. I would think for under 1k anything Japanese would be best.

Lead sled being hard on scopes is kind of silly.

I have a Weatherby 30-378. I need a long range scope for my bucket list. Please exclude my expensive Leupold paperweight. LOL. My last scopes are EOtech and Vortex. I have a budget that includes a high end , quality scope. Not the aforementioned. Thank you, gentlemen.
