Hey guys, I looked around and couldn't find many reviews on the Optisan Mamba 1-4x24 30mm and with the sale SWFA was having I decided to indulge ans try it out. 149.99 + tax I ordered it and received it a few days later. The mount is nice as its s Optisan and the screws for it aren't perfect, but snugged up tight. The illuminated recticle looks good, but what caught my eye was that it stays black when off. The green is easily seen on a bright Louisiana day. The red not so much, on the highest setting it faded and was barely visible. I would be completely fine with no illumination and just black, but I did not design the scope. The scope mounted easily on my Stag lower/Model 1Sales 18" SPR. I was looking for an optic like this to serve as a CQB as well as magnification for increased range.

At 1x you can use two eyes to shoot comparable to an Eotech, which is what I took off the gun, it's going on a SBR build so no it's not going to waste. The eye focus piece works as it should and at 4x the eye relief was just right. Started the sight in at 50 yards and was on target in 2-4 shots, the elevation clicks are mushy and you have to really watch when your turning so the BDC helps to mark your clicks you've adjusted. The windage knob is alright and moves correctly. The sight in was on at 100 yards and the scope held up to all the shooting. There were no blurry or fuzzy spots visible and the glass is nice and clear. I did not reset the turrets for one I don't trust them and two I'm not sure it will work with the mushy clicks.

My overall thoughts of ths scope is good and I enjoy shooting through it and it works well for my purpose that I intended. My father is fixing to order him one as it fits our shooting style greatly and a good hunting application. I don't have pics, sorry, but I can email some on request. I consider it a good buy and would buy an extra if I had another rifle for it. If I missed something or any questions feel free to PM me.

Re: Optisan Mamba 1-4X24

It is a very good deal. 1-4x24 illuminated scope with 5.56 BDC capped turrets and flattop catilever mount for $149.95.

The windage turret cap has an extra battery stored in it like the Millett DMS does. In fact I would say that it is almost identical to the DMS optically and mechanically. The Millett does not have its windage marked with 5.56 bullet drop and only has one color of illumination, it sells for $214.95 for the scope alone.

Here is another review on the Mamba.

Im in for one of these. It will sit atop my 6x43 wildcat AR. Shouldn't be too far off on BDC...

I just order this combo myself. It seemed like a hell of a deal.

I was curious about this, but just didn't know. I am looking for something to put on my Mini-14, for an upcoming carbine class. Guess I can't go wrong, with SWFA's customer service to back this up.

Got the scope yesterday. My first reaction was that I liked it. I looked through the scope at a hous about 100 yards away and it look good on all available power settings.

I installed the battery and turned on the illumination. My second reaction was that I hated it. The illuminated reticle is FUZZY. It is fuzzy in both red and green. Not to act on an impulse, I decided to wait and look through it again today when I got home. I still don't like the illuminated reticle.

I will call SWFA tomorrow and get an MRA number and send it back.

Guess I will just save a little longer for something better.

I didn't buy the scope for the red/green, I agree with you I hate it. I wanted it because it stays black when not on. I pulled the battery out of mine and use it black.
