wherever I may roam...
Am going to my first carbine class next month, have never ran 450 rounds in two days. So, what I need are some suggstions to help keep my Mini-14 chuggin along. Right now I use CLP/Breakfree. And I know I will be the odd man out since I don't have an AR, it is what it is. So please no, get an AR comments, its on the list.
Thanks,
Eric

Re: lube question

What's a muni? And why would its lube requirements be unique? I prefer Slip 2000 for in-field quick lube, but it seems to me that a shot of CLP would work just fine on any set of moving metal parts.

Re: lube question

Ive used Break Free CLP for years. Its great stuff but I found something better and havent switched back. Mill Com TW25b Grease and Oil. Its expensive but it works better then anything else. It even makes the gun easier to clean. I would highly recommend it.

If you decide to use it. Clean the gun and rinse the whole gun with Alcohol to get all the old oils off. Then wipe it down with the Mil Com Cleaner/Degreaser. Then oil or grease it with TW25B.

It makes the gun run so smooth and cuts half the time when cleaning it again.

Re: lube question

I use Slip 2000 EWL. It doesn't evaporate like CLP and it doesn't cook off either. I regularly put 500 plus rounds through my AR in a single day, and it hasn't let me down. If I lube before I start shooting, I don't have to worry about it again.

+1

Re: lube question

EWL is great, I've never had it cook off or anything. Doesn't have much of a smell either

Re: lube question

For what it's worth, I use Slip EWL every 500 to 1000 rounds. My AR has over 6000 rounds through it since its last cleaning. I'm not saying that it's the only thing that works, but it works for me.

Re: lube question

for a class/heavy use a light coating of grease instead of oil, after day one is over clean you rifle and reapply for the next day,450rds in two days? some classes fire 1000-1500 in two days, just saying, have fun and dont shoot your eye out
