A few weeks ago I loaded up some rounds that I've decided against using. If I use a bullet puller will I be able to reseat a new bullet without resizing the brass? I worry about the neck tension being to low if I don't.

Re: Pulling Bullets

Yes, you should be able to re-seat the bullets without resizing. Try one and see how it does for you. I have done it many a time at the range doing load development and there was always enough neck tension to hold the bullets at my desired seating depth.

Re: Pulling Bullets

Is this for a bolt rifle or Semi-auto? If it's for a Semi-auto please resize or use a Lee factory crimp die.

I have to do this from time to time. I use them for single load sigthers or fouling shots.

Re: Pulling Bullets

Just went through that this week. Took about 150 rounds of .223 apart using an RCBS Collet Puller Die.

Sometimes bullets and case necks will bond. Mine even left patches of brass on the lower portion of the bullet sidewall. It does not take long forbonding to accur, my rounds were only about 2 months old. Usually no harm results, but I gave my bullets a quick run through the polishing tumbler anyway.

I was disassembling the rounds because of chambering issues with a new AR. So I decided to readjust my resizing die to minimum length and resize the brass. Before beginning, I removed the decapping pin and readjusted the expander to ensure it didn't bottom out. Then I just went ahead and resized the brass. It was once fired from federal economy 55gr.

The ammunition went back together without a hitch.

Just to be sure, I also adjusted the seater stem a full turn deeper.
