I just finished a build and the rifle is chambered in 6.5 cm.
Question: Is the recoil on this round similar to 308 or is it less? I haven't shot the rifle yet so I just want a little insight on what to expect. Oh and there isn't a supressor or a brake on this gun.

Re: 6.5 cm Question

Definitely less. How much is hard to say. My previous 308 had a conventional stock and my 6.5 CM has an XLR chassis stock. It's not really a fair comparison given the rifles are completely different, but my 6.5 CM weighs 5 lbs. less and also has less recoil.

Re: 6.5 cm Question

I shoot my 6.5 creed with no brake or supressor. I don't even notice ANY recoil.

You should be just fine!

Unless you have shoulder issues its not needed

Re: 6.5 cm Question

What is the purpose of the rifle? Just for range use you should be fine without a break unless you just want one. If you want to use it for tactical competition then I would say spent the extra money and get one now. You dont NEED a break but it will help with quick follow up shots on timed stages and will also help you watch your bullet trace if you need to correct for misses.

Re: 6.5 cm Question

Try it without the brake first. The recoil is less. You are going to love that round, a lot.

Re: 6.5 cm Question

The 6.5 is a nice round, pretty low recoiling but if your going to be using the gun in timed competitions you want the quickest follow up shots possible and brake will certainly help with that.

Re: 6.5 cm Question

I love mine...it doesn't have a break and I am not a fan of recoil. Not bad at all.

Re: 6.5 cm Question

I've had a 4 port tactical muscle break by Benchmark Barrels on my TRG 6.5CM and I think my 17hmr has more kick....
