Asc competition

Re: Asc competition

As always, this match again lived up to my expectations as one of the best physical and mental shooting challenges of the year.

The new stages were creative and fun: A 300 yard shot, with no wind at the gun and no wind at the target, which required 2.5 Mils of windage for a hit?!!! That's 30mph wind...somewhere in between.

And it was truly a joy to watch the military guys work together as a team to slay targets: Professional, polite, extremely competent young men.

Thank you to Rod and John for again letting me hang around in the company of so many top-notch riflemen.

Re: Asc competition

As always it was a Great match with Awesome people. Run like a top with shots you can't replicate many other places on earth.

577 Uncorrected yards, 22 degree angle, slung up sitting... on a Small Target !

We had a great squad to shoot with, from New to very experienced. Mrs. Ace and TechToy_Al kept me in line and made for a perfect weekend despite shooting rifles with no load work and less than 20 rounds down the tube !

Rod, John... Yall got it going on and you know it )

A BIG thanks to all the Ro's, Especially Brock for helping the Mrs. out with the sling configuration. We owe you one.

Congrats Clark... One of these days !

Re: Asc competition

Thanks to the team for having me up. I ain't never seen no match like that one and I sure hope I see it again. I was so humbled and learned so much all at the same time. That target that almost no one in our group hit @ 300 yards with no wind at the gun must have been a ghost. I was glad to shoot with a bunch guys who had shot it a bunch or I would have never hit a target. Thanks to the Sponsers I picked up an awesome prize at dinner. I can't say enough about my 1st ASC. I'll go back every time I'm lucky enough to get in

Re: Asc competition

I also would like to send a personal thanks to Brock for teaching me how to adjust and use my sling correctly!! A huge thank you goes out to all that make this match possible. Without all the hard work all these gentlemen put in none of us could have such a wonderful time in such a beautiful place. I can honestly say no where else I have ever been can equal this. It is both challenging and physical yet at the same time you stand in awe of your surrounding.

Re: Asc competition

Looks like yall had perfect weather. Great pictures, thank you for posting.

wish i could of been there

Re: Asc competition

I would also like to thank Rod, John and crew for all the hard work they put into setting up a great match, it's obvious they put a lot of time into it. The shooting opportunities were great. The weather was fantastic, and I got to meet alot of the top shooters in this part of the country, I don't think you could come up with a better bunch of guys and lady to shoot with. Looking forward to next time.

Re: Asc competition

A big thanks goes out to Rod, John, and crew! This was by far the best match I have even been to including past ASC. The weather was just perfect, the wind was just tricky enough, and the competitors were all top notch.

A special thanks goes to Tom Pohuski Sr, who let me borrow a backup rifle on day one until I could get a scope on my backup rifle. I shot this match with three different rifles and somehow still managed to shoot halfway decent.

Brock, the food was excellent as always. It was good to see old friends and some new faces as well. This is the one match I try to shoot every year over any other match and it always lives up to its reputation.

Thank you to all the generous sponsors out there who donated to the prize table and help grow our sport.

Thank you all!

Re: Asc competition

Mrs.Ace, you are more than welcome with the help. Even if it was a competitors product that you were using. Always willing to help if I can and glad it made a difference. Remember bone to bone, when ever possible. Also try using it while shooting off a tall tripod or shooting sticks while in the sitting position. Every little bit of support helps. Practice until next time. Brock

Re: Asc competition

Thanks to Rod, John and the whole crew that not only carried us to the top of the mountain, but that helped on every stage...

This was my first trip to ASC, what an awesome place to shoot..

Congrats to Clark on the win, and Ace for keeping it real close, and everyone else in the top 5.. Great job!!!

Brock cooked one hell of dinner Saturday night as well, which I learned from others, It's always that good....
I must have missed Brock's sling lesson to Mrs Ace, I sure needed that help on the un-supported shots..

Thanks also go out to all the generous sponsors.. Thank you!!

I look forward to making the trip again.

Re: Asc competition

This was my fourth ASC, and the best that I've been to, yet. It must be a good year for Beef, too, as I don't recall the tenderloin ever being that tender - Fantastic job, Brock! The weather was perfect, the property was beautiful, and I sure like the new three-day format.

I had to "Solo" it this time, none of my shooting buddies made it - Josh & Steve(????), Ben and Scott (Score-High match). I "slept" in the Focus on the way back from Rifles Only last month, and wasn't looking forward to doing that again, so bugged out right after shooting was finished to try to make it all the way back to StL on Sunday night. Hit rain from Buckhannon, WV through Kentucky and half of Indiana (8 hours with the wipers on), but rolled in the driveway about Midnight (CDT) - long day....

It was great to see old freinds and meet new ones - especially liked sharing dope with the Military 308 shooters and talking religion and politics with Winky. Hope to shoot in the sheepshit with you guys again....

I knew I "lost" (guys at work keep reminding me that second place is the first loser), but just totaled up the scoresheet -39/27/18(5) = 79. It certainly was a "Challenge"!

My sincerest thanks to Rod, John, and crew, and to the Sponsors - you all did a great job!

Cheers,

Bill

Re: Asc competition

If anyone found a set of the green peltors with Painter on them, I think they may have tumbled out if the van as we were loading up. If anyone finds them, give me a email or call.

Re: Asc competition

We had a blast shooting with all of you. I cannot thank yall enough for the different skills and shooting techniques that we learned from everyone. I don't think that we will bring .308s again though. There's nothing like a good ol kick in the pride. We are going to take what we learned and not only incorporate it in what we teach our guys, but apply it better next match. Can't wait! Thanks to everyones hard work on the match as well. It was the best one we've been to so far. We are better shooters because of it.

Justin

Re: Asc competition

Re: Asc competition

Just to reiterate what Justin was say'n, I would like to thank each and every person who had any hand in setting up, observing or competing in the match. We had a blast up there and we don't plan on missing another match held at the farm. Special thanks goes to Rod and John for allowing us to come up on such short notice. You gentalmen are great Americans and I personally appreciate your efforts in continuing to promote shooting. It was my pleasure to meet so many people whom I already consider good friends and will continue to do so. Thank all of you for an incredible match and I look forward to seeing all of you again.

Thanks
Case

Re: Asc competition

ASC is such a treat to shoot, I've never been anywhere that's as diverse and beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity to shoot up the dirt around your steel.

and the dinner on Saturday?...................wow
