After shooting a 308 past 2 years, and collecting components, I have my build finally done.

    Reamer: 260 Remington Tactical
Barrel chambered and screwed together by Chad Dixon here on the hide. Will tell you how he did once I choot it, but I will tell you his turn around time is amazing, and his prices are competitive.

    Action: Tac30AW
From the Stiller Group Buy of '10, this action so far looks and feels as good as any I have handled. Smooth, and cut for the AW double stack mags, I hope to have a winner here.

Barrel: Brux 1:8.5 M40 Countour finished at 26" Threaded 5/8-24
Picked this up from a hide vendor awhile back. Its a 4-groove and I cant wait to see if the 5R hype is just a sales scam (lol - I big advocate of quality barrel smith over number of grooves). It is cut-rifled however, and I do believe those to be a better barrel, but prob falls into the number of grooves conspiracy.

Stock: KMW Sentinel - 40% Light Blus, 30% Red, 30% White
As I am not black rifle guy, I wanted something a little different from the standard camo. Since I sold my previous Sentinel to a member here on the hide, who needed it a little more than I did, I was able to order one back in late September, '11. These stocks can be ordered with any of the Mcmillion (yes I know its spelled incorrectly, I saw this spelling in another thread and thought it was pretty funny) color schemes. I wanted something a little patriotic, so I with the colors of our flag. Wish it had a little more red and white, but overall, I like. The cheek piece to the forearm to the bottom metal are perfect. I esp like the mag release and the option of attaching a rail to the forearm if you need it.

Trigger: Huber 2-stage set at 1 lb 10 oz

Rings: Seekins lows (1" I believe)

Scope: Schmidt & Bender 3-20 with H2CMR Rect
    See here for review. http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...632#Post3321632
Liking it more and more everyday.

Bipod: Current is a Harris, going to get an Atlas on next trip to Mile High Shoting.

    Suppressor: TBAC 30P1

Now Some pics. Were taken with a D5100 and 35mm 1:1.8G DX Lens:

I really like this pic. I wwas able to play with the shutter speed and get a shot that focused on the knobs.

After getting everything mounted up, I do not like the thick front scope ring as it is all the way forward, and there is no room for extra adjustment. Luckily, that position happened to be perfect.

You may also notice the action/barrel sitting a little high. WHen I ordered the stock, it came contoured for the wrong barrel. I have to mill it out for final fitment. Irritating, but not the end of the world.

    And yes, it never ends

that is awesome, more power to ya for goin bright, that is about as useful as multi-cam is to most people.

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

Very cool looking rifle!! I am a huge fan of sentinal stocks and everything ive seen, chad builds one heck of a gun so I doubt this will be any different!

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

At first I just looked at the photos and I wasnt really sure what to think of the color choice, but after reading your post the red and white stood out more to me. I think the Flag colors are a cool choice and how could someone not like Red, White and Blue.

Sweet set up. I am waiting a Tac AW from this last group buy and will also be building a 260. When you get it shooting post groups and if you are reloading, post your data please.

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

All I can say is WOW! Very nice!!!!

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

I love that color scheme on the stock. Are you going to coat the barreled action? I'd go black on the metal.

Who did you buy your scope from?

Will do. Have everything and started loading yesterday. Using Win 7-08 Brass, JLK 130, 4831sc & 4350, and br2 primers.

Probably wont coat the metal as I think it a waste of money. If I ever do anything, I will krylon it white.

Got Scope from Alex at euroOptic. When I got call, I thought they were messing with me and just wanted money in advance. Haha I asked them 5 time if they for sure had it in stock.

Ordered it in late September last year. Quoted 4-6 months but I said not to worry about it cause my build was progressing slowly. Received it last week. All in all 2 weeks shy of 8 months.

Received both my 3-20 and this stock last week. Best week ever!!! ha.

That's a great looking rifle. I'm hoping to have a rifle in a Sentinel some day.

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

Awesome build. I ordered my Sentinel late October. Hopefully mine is coming soon.

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

very nice build, that stock looks awesome!

Can't wait to see a range report!!

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

Last weekend loaded up some ammo to test for pressure to begin an OCW test.

    H4831SC

Started at 45 went up to 51.5 grains with slight cratering at 51.5

I bought a chrono (last one got assassinated) and am yet to shoot over it. the 51.5 powder load was so full the bullet rested on poweder and didnt touch the brass. Compressing loads makes me a little nervous as I feel like there should be a pressure spike, so 51.5 is as high as I am going.

When I decided on the 260, I went with the AW setup so I could utilize a longer OAL. I also reamed it extra long. My comparator is in the mail, but the OAL is right at 2.96, just short enough to not hit the mag, and its kissing the lands.

I dont have time to do a real workup before a comp this weekend, so I am going to load up 80 with 50 grains, and see how it does. Have to get some rounds down the barrel before the snipers hide cup.

    DT

    bottom row 48.5 to 49.5

No sir. My goal is pushing the 130 at least 3k, if I cant reach it with this load, I will be trying 4350 next, then if all else fails, the will be trying the RL line of powders.

Seeing you're from CA, I am pretty sure you have no prob "swabbing poop decks" all on your own...lol

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

D Tros, Did you go with the IMB on the Sentinel.

I just ordered a Sentinel with the IMB and was looking for some feedback on it

    Re: Stiller-Sentinel-Schmidt DONE!

Awesome rig but PLEASE stop stealing all my 7-08 brass for your 260 :-D. I love those stocks I just wish they made a savage inlet for them.

    Good luck,
    Merritt

Yes sir, sure did. I like not having to deal with getting the rifle bedded, and it fits great. I will let you know if it holds accuracy from disassembling after I get a load work up. SO far, so good.

I want to use a powder that will fill case (slight compresion) to minimize SD and ES. If 4831 no good, I switcheroo.

worked up a load right before snipers hide cup. using 4350 getting well over 3000 fps and was good for a top 15h place finish. very cool.

could only get 2940 with 4831sc
