Thumbhole Stock options

I have a buddy that wants a thumbhole stock for a 17" 308. Any suggestions on stocks? I don't care much for thumbhole stocks, so I thought I would turn to the hide to help out. I am looking for experience with them not just links. This guy used to shoot IDPA and says the thumbhole just feels more like a pistol to him. I showed him some vertical grip stocks that I keep in the shop but he still wants a thumbhole if he can get it. Doesn't want to spend more than $400.

Re: Thumbhole Stock options

Manners t5 is an awesome stock, but I do believe even in its cheapest version is atleast a couple hundred bucks over the price he's looking to spend. Choate may make a thumbhole and possibly some different laminate wood varmit style stocks.

Re: Thumbhole Stock options

I never thought I would like one but got a good deal on an unused T5 with mini chassis and I really like it. The only other thumb hole stock I have shot was a Thompson center and I didn't like it at all. The T5, even without the chassis will be more than $400 though like FM said

Re: Thumbhole Stock options

Check the Manners "ready to ship" page. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one unless its not for a rem

Re: Thumbhole Stock options

Might want to give Stockade a try. You didn't say what he was putting it on, but they have a couple of thumbhole style stocks in that price range. I have one on order for a Savage build that I'm gifting to my little brother. But the lead time is rather long, 14 or so weeks. Pretty sure they inlet for Remys too.
