Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Thanks William.

Just finished these 6 up today. Can't shoot control groups till Monday. Thought I had some Gold Medal match but was out and had to get some coming.

Mr. Sock is assembling kits right now but should be through in time to do the shooting Monday.

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Thanks Joe.
We will see if they pass threshold and get them out of here.

Mr. Sock is not allowed alcohol or SpankaVision until he test fires the rifles. Can't have his over enthusiastic personality negatively skew any results....

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Awesome work as usual from you terry! Cant wait to get behind one of your stocks here in the next couple weeks!

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Excellent rifles Terry... Great work as always! I saw one of your sentinel stocks at Mr. Gradous' shop while I was there, I have to say it was SWEET!

I might be sending another A-5 to you for a hardware install. (If McMillan is kind enough to change my order.)

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Terry,

Any idea when you might take customer spec builds again?

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Will these run MK 248 Mod 1 without pressure issues?

Yes. None of the rifles I posted are for sale. They are for previous customer commitments.

Pictures are taken of each batch of spec rifles to document that group. Most of my photos are low end. Cheap camera and redneck = less than professional results. I just thought these pictures caught the CeraKote finish well so I posted them.

Thank you for asking but probably not in my lifetime. Only time I build to customer specs is if it is a multi-gun P.O. I am very fortunate to stay busy and already can't really keep up with email/phone.

Taking customer spec builds easily quadruples the email and phone traffic. I would wager that roughly half of the those customers require responses to email and/or phone multiple times a week starting the day after the deposit is received here. If I have 100+ rifles in cycle and half of the customers require that type of interaction, KMW is just not the best fit for that business. In fact, I may stop taking custom stock orders because of the same thing.

Thanks again for asking and have a safe weekend.

I have no clue.
I have never fired current mil production ammo through them. Can't speak for customers already out there shooting theirs.

I do have customers that have run all known types of factory loads from RUAG to CorBon with no issues. Most run handloads of various recipes and I have not had any notifications of the action and match chamber causing early pressure signs.

If someone can arrange to have a skid (all from the same lot# of course) drop shipped to my shop, I will shoot some and advise.

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Looks very nice, when are the next batch of Mister Socks due to hit the streets?

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

I'd sure be interested in seeing how that multi-color Cerakote finish was done on the actions/barrels.

Well said Terry. I'm learning that the hard way but happier than a pig in mud to have the problem

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Terry, I want one of your Longswords so bad I'd sell a kidney to get my hands on one. I check your site every morning when I get into the office to see if you've posted any in your "Rifles for Sale". Waiting for the day when a 300 Norma pops up. Any plans for any Longswords coming up for sale to civvies anytime in the future?

Blah blah blah.....blah blah!!!! Sorry Mr. Cross, all I heard is GROUP BUY!!!! 10 rifle order, all with the same specs to make it easy for you. Put me down for the first gun. Who's next? 9 spots left! RG

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Had several people wondering about the test groups. Was waiting on .300 Win Mag ammo to get here. Shipment came in but
Fed Gold Medal was not in my box with the rest of the ammo so... 220gr Match Kings with a dumbass shooting....

These are only 3 shot groups, but they are consecutive, throw each rifle on the bench and shoot, function groups. So this doesn't meet the site rules to hold any water for accuracy. I do not try to tune loads or tweak things on new rifles. I just want to make sure I have healthy rifles going out the door.

I knew I drove the rifle way wrong on shot #3 of the first group so I refired another group on the side of the bore sight/zero target

L00242ALongSword300WINMAG.jpg

If I count my "F" up on the first rifle, these 4 rifles averaged in the high 0.3"s If I count the refired group the ave was low 0.3"s. All rifles were fired from a bench at 110yds with bipod and rear pinch bag. Vortex Razor scope.

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

Mr.Cross, I understand your business model and I don't begrudge you for it at all. I'm sure building for anal nuts like us can made custom smithing one gun per person crazy at times. I just wish that you could build maybe 1 gun every quarter for sale on your website for us poor guys that check every day or two. Seriously, I have been religious about checking your site every day or two just hoping that you would post a new gun for one of us lucky nuts. It has been disheartening.

A big +1 to this. I only need one or two more anyway...for now.

Also, great looking set of rifles Terry. I really like the tri-color scheme on these.

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

So your going to stop customer spec builds but will one be able to get one of your spec builds?

He stopped customer builds quite some time ago, if you're talking about rifles

Re: .300 Win Mag goodness

I have a notification list for each type of "spec" rifle I build. As I can build a group of spec rifles, I go to the appropriate list and contact individuals in the order that they were on the waiting list to see if they still want to participate.

Giving accurate delivery dates to anyone on the list is difficult. #1 - All "spec" groups are built between contract work. #2 - There is no way to guess what the participation rate will be from the first people on a list. Accordingly, it is difficult to tell how fast an individual on a list will move down.

The shop is small and the number of rifles built each year is limited.

Mr Sock has his priorities mixed up. In my house fondling a KMW Sentinel is way better than alcohol or SpankaVision. Or at least on par. In all seriousness, great looking rifles Terry. I'm excited to be receiving my stock soon.
