Anyone have the new factory pistol grip legacy AICS? How do the skins compare to viperskins? Are they available in 1.5 and 2.0 versions?

You've handled the new AICS pistol grip skins?

How did you come up with that opinion?

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

I don't think they have been released yet in the US ? AI said to expect them end March but I've not heard anything since. Hope I am wrong.

Please elaborate. It's kind of lame to make a statement like that and not offer any explanation of your opinion. Are your skins vastly superior in fit, finish, durability, ergo's or in some other way? Sell me since you have experience with both products.

And I thought I was being funny. hahalol!

Here's the thing, AI is not known for the quality or fit or ergonomics of their any of their skins... whether it be AICS, AIAX or the new ones that haven't materialized yet. Anyone who has an AI knows this. AI is known for having the ROLEX of rifles. They are the best out there and second to none. If you want the best rifle in the world, pick AI. If you want the best skins... well I'll let you guys choose.

Michael,

I'm not trying to bust your balls but it's not funny when manufacturers drop in and make statements about their product and don't offer anything to back it up. In this case I don't understand why you aren't willing to say I feel my product is better, here's why.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

I think the only real difference is the AI stamp on the side of the Legacy skins.

Other than that... I haven't had any experience with the "Legacy", but I do have Viper skins on my AIC 1.5 and is way more comfortable than that thumb hole AICS skins for sure.

.. and in all honesty, I think the "Legacy" is AI's response back to the Viper Skins product on their chassis... we'll see where AI price out there stuff... but whatever, I like my Viper Skins...

I noticed that too. My interest is in purchasing the legacy chassis with factory pistol grip skins. Can't see enough of a difference to justify 200 bucks for viperskins now that AI is offering a factory pistol grip.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

Great, so AI doesn't offer them with the monopod cut out either.

I just took delivery of a new AW with a folding stock and butt spike. It had the new stocksides, in thumbhole configuration.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

Thumbholes have it but Im wondering if the pistol grip does. I hope so.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

Well heres my .02
About the time I was looking to buy an AICS, Michael was a week or so away from releasing the skins. When I got my AICS I was impressed with the stock and thought wow, but for the price you would have thought that the skins would have been better fit. The skins met in some places and left spaces between in other places. So after waiting and researching I bought a pair of the Viper Skins. THEY ARE vastly superior in fit, quality of the material and rigidity over the standard skins. I am curious how long they were out before AI decided to come out with thier own version. The AICS is one heck of a system and if you dont care about the skins not fitting as they should, dont spend the 200 or so for a set of Viper Skins. Alot of people have complained about the fit of the stock AICS skins granted its merely cosmetic, and sure it can over time let dirt , dust and grime in onto the chassis itself. I would be curious if thats a problem that has been fixed by AI with thier version ot the new pistol grip skins that look mighty darn close to the ViperSkins.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

No, I was also trying to full a fast one with a little humor as well, because I did not think they had released them yet. I have not held, felt, or even seen in person with my own two eyes the New AI skins.

That being said, the viperskins are much better IMHO!!!

Because I run them on two rifles and really like them!!!

Good Morning Mirnyx,

Thank you for allowing me this time to highlight our products. Our skins are better than AIs in a number of ways. Here are a few:

First, our pistolgrip is much more ergronomic.. it's been tailor fit to the average shooter's hand size. Now if you have large hands we also offer an XL grip. Both of our pistol grips are made of a natural 'grippy' rubber and not hard plastic (like AI skins).

Second, we have a widened forestock and off hand palmswell, which is MUCH more stable when shooting off bags, barricades or anything offhand. When you are slung up, the width of the forestock is a perfect fit for your hand. (AI skins are squareish)

Third, Viperskins molds are precise and our seams fit as they should. No gaps or sharp seams gouge your skin.

Fourth, We offer more colors than AI. (OD Fleck, Hot Pink and Coyote are coming VERY soon).

Fifth, Viperskins are here, in stock and available. You can buy them today.

Lastly, I give the best customer service in the world. I shoot the competitions right along side of you guys, I donate prizes to your prize tables. I care. Ask anyone who has dealt with me, I'm responsive and will make your experience with Victor Company a pleasure. Or your money back.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

Sounds pretty good to me Mike. On a side note, are you going to be releasing the newer Viper Skins with the monopod cut out as standard or will this always be an additional cost/feature? Do you have any swatches of the new colors coming out and will you be taking any preorders?

We do have a monopod friendly rear stock in development, not sure when it will be on the shelves tho.

Regarding the colors, no official pics yet. I should have them VERY VERY soon.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

These are the two reasons I like them. I could care less about the others.

Thank you, there's some good info which has me thinking your skins could be worth the extra dough.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

I need to order some big boy grips. Oh yeah maybe a hot pink for my daughter.

• The stocksides in photos are for AW/AE rifles. These do not have the machined notch for the Remington 700 bolt boss. The first shipment of these stocksides are all for MHSA and will be here late next week. We expect to ship to MHSA the week of June 3.
• AICS stocksides WILL have the machined notch for the Remington 700 bolt boss. The machinging on these is being done now and they will ship later in June. All of the first shipment are going to MHSA.
• The new stocksides are available in both classic thumbhole and pistol grip. Yes, the back grip and rear shells are interchangeable to create either the thumbhole or pistol grip.
• The new stocksides are available for either the classic sling loop for legacy AICS and new production AICS, or with flush cups for new production AICS. (new production AICS will no longer have the bolt boss projection out to the side, so the stocksides don't need to be machined)
• The new stocksides will easily accept the optional side rails by removing the punch-outs on either side of the forend and installing the rail kit.
• The new stocksides have a soft radius on the bottom corner of the forend for a more comfortable grip.
• The new stocksides are comprised of a set of modular components to allow the greatest degree of compatibility and design language between legacy chassis, new chassis, new AICS and the AX series. The design began about two years ago with the introduction of the AX, and compatibility requirements have set the pace for engineering and production. Some things can't be rushed!
• The new stocksides are available in both fixed and folding configuration for AW/AE rifles, legacy AICS and new production AICS.
• The material is the same combat proven polymer that has been used on AI rifles and AICS for many years.
• Colors initially are OD Green, Black and Dark Earth.
• Being an original equipment product, these are forward engineered, not backward engineered.

Oh, and the price is looking like ~ $110.50 MSRP/UPL.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

I will be trying out the AI pistol grip skins for sure.

***Also, do those pics show a Savage action?***

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

God, why can't they stray away from that baby shit yellow. Victor Skinz crushes them in the color department hands down.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

Any more details on the Savage AICS. Release date? Short and long action? Action spacing? AX AICS?

Anyways, looking good for Savage rifles.

Also, the new AI skins are looking good too.

Yeah, it looks like you pay twice as much for viperskins over the Accuracy International's.

Something tells me the price is going to drop when the AI skins actually hit the street.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

So just a quick question, The new AI skins w/ the thumb-hole can work on the AX? The thumb-hole feels so natural to ME that I have always been partial to it.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

MHSC just called today and the new ones are back in. Got my order placed.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

I have Michael's Viperskins on two of my rifles and decided to give the AI skins a try on a third.

The set I received was, to put it mildly, horrible. The fit was poor at best with gaps between the sides and the material felt cheap and plastic (yes, I get it that they are plastic) unlike the Viperskins that have a very solid and tactile feel to them and fit perfectly on my rifles. No matter what I did to try to get the two sides to marry up nicely it just wasn't happening. This, along with what I feel is a vastly inferior material choice by AI made it easy to send them back.

For me the choice was clear - to get a high quality pistol grip skin set Michael's product was, and remains, the only game in town.

Well, that makes me feel better about having preemptively ordered a set of Viperskins for an incoming left-hand AW. I had an AICS at one time and remember thinking the skins could be improved - this standing apart from the fact I was not in love with the thumbhole design itself. I was wondering if they had made the leap this time around.

Then again I can appreciate AI's talents going to use on the other, more critical, aspects of the weapon. I am also glad Michael Victor's company is stepping in to provide a great product.

Thanks for posting the feedback.

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

It was the colours and XL pistol grip that made my mind up.

I have a set in camp dip coming soon as I've just had an e - mail saying they have been shipped on Monday

Re: AICS w/ factory pistol grip

The new version of factory AICS stock sides are compatible with AI AE old version stock sides?

Thank you
