Did Remington put different triggers in the police rifles?

Anyone shorten the bbl length on their 300 WM Sendero profile bbl? And, if so what was the length that worked best for you?

The newer ones come with the X-mark crap trigger... Does that help ?

I don't know if this helps, but I've got a 1991 BDL Varmint and a 1994 police. Both have identical triggers. It's a pretty good trigger if you get it set up correctly (if you set it up incorrectly, you might try and sue Remington so they replace the whole line with junk X-Marks--oh, wait).

Some of the PSS's come with 40X Triggers.

thanks all. The trigger housing has an "X" stamped into it. Any idea on the meaning of this? Rifle was bought early 2000 era.

Mine came with a 40x trigger, which I managed to tune down to a nice pull, but it still wasn't consistent and the Timney I have now is much smoother.

Does the one you have have a stainless trigger shoe or a blued shoe? Also, where is the adjustment located?

I bought a new 700P in 300 WM yesterday and it has the 40x trigger in it. I bought a 700P in 223 back right after the first of the year and it had the X-Crap in it. Better half bought me a 700 LTR in 308 for Christmas and it has the 40x trigger in it. So, its a hit and miss thing.

ribbed black shoe, so I guess blued? I just used this diagram and fiddled with it until I got something I liked.
