Just got a Kimber SVT in 223. I dont know why but I have been drooling over this rifle for the last 3 years, finally pulled the trigger. Taking it to the range Friday to see how it runs.

FALex its not surprising you havent seen them, they are hard to come by. Its an 18" barrel...I like it because its compact and has a great balanced given the bull barrel. Its just a neat rifle.
They make the same rifle in a 22lr as well as a model with a 26" barrel.

Congratulations, That thing is a beauty. They probably have a waiting list on it a 1/2 mile long for those. Be sure to give us an update on how she shoots.

Got the range today to sight it in and got a couple of groups together. 3, 5 shoot groups all covered with a quarter. This is using some cabelas bulk ultramax 55 gr v-max i had laying around. Very impressed! Sorry no pics...left the phone in the car and too lazy to walk back.

Follow up report:
I took this bad boy prairie doggin and while it performed very well accuracy wise (kills out to 450), it had a lot of barrel jump which took it off target(couldnt see the kill or impact for follow up shots). I am going to get a break put on it to eliminate this problem.

I've always loved these rifles but just couldn't spend the extra scoots on one. I will have one someday though.....

That rifle had a truck axle for barrel..thats the fattest factory tube I know of.

those are good guns. use to have one we kept in the ranch truck or the mule to deal with coyotes. they do jump around a bit, but i never thought it was enuf to worry about

I just got a PM asking how this rifle was treating me and felt I should give an update for everyone. After the first time I took this rifle out, the groups started opening up until I had a hard time getting the rifle to shoot 2" groups at 100 yards.
I tried several different factory and hand loads to try and get it to shoot, but nothing.
Took it to a reputable gunsmith and had it rebarreled along with some other tweaks and still couldn't get it to shoot. Even had other people shoot it to ensure it wasnt me.
In the end I just got rid of it. I have read several posts regarding Kimber's quality going down over the past couple of years. I just wrote it off to bitter people, but after this experience I am done with Kimber.
