I have a new Traid Tactical stock pack, a TIS Quick Cuff sling(and what ever swivels he needs) and a Harris HBRMS w/ pod claws,ski feet(both on quick change adapters,leg lock screws, KMW pod loc, bipod stud etc. It's yours if you need it/can use it. I probably got some other shit I can send as well.

That's awesome sawman. Lots of good stuff. You could make the Triad work but I'm planning on pitching in to help buy one of these stock packs made for the M14 from TNVC.

I will be putting $40 towards it and it costs $80. If anyone wants to put in on the other half you can pm me. If you want to Paypal gift me $40 I will go ahead and order one and get it sent out. I will cover tax and shipping. I'm going to call TNVC tomorrow to check the availability of these packs. If I don't hear from anyone soon I will just get the $40 to Ken to help with what he has done already.

I'm new here, and I should probably just stay out of this....but, has anyone verified this story?? I'm retired, but am now a Department of the Army civilian, and have seriously never heard of an infantry unit deployed to an FOB not being issued enough rifles? That's completely prepostorous! What are your duties, not your MOS, and where are you assigned?

If the original poster would send me an IM/PM with his AKO I will verify. If this is true, I will help out with whatever I can.

no dog in the fight... haven't verified it... wouldn't.... BUT, I'm also retired, and I've seen plenty of units go down range w/o what they need... either because some asshole didn't think they needed it, some douche didn't bother to request it, some POS was to lazy to work to get it, etc, etc...

if you really retired from big green and never had to scrounge for gear, you're either the luckiest bastard I've ever heard of, or you didn't do shit the whole time you were in.

Never said I didn't have to scrounge for stuff. But have you seriously seen combat units deploy to a combat FOB without weapons, and then have none available? Really? Is he a sniper? Is he authorized an M14? Or does he just prefer to have an M14? (Which is completely understandable, but that's not the story he gave.) Or is that the only weapon available to him? Lots of holes in that story that need to be verified before I'd send him a dime. If it's true I'll send him 2 brand new M14 magazines to his APO address. Send me an AKO and an APO....

All units in theater are authorized the M14 EBR. I mean ALL units. It is up to the unit to officially ask for what they want. Biggest kink in this is supply not wanting to do anything they consider extra around here. My shop has reported several specs and a couple sgts for holding things up to the appropriate people before and it gets handled usually with a bit of over site that no one likes but is needed in these cases.
And as far as magazines and accessories go, new personnel that don't quite have the swing of things yet tend to sign over EBR's and not put the BII on the receipt thinking it is part of the weapon. So when they get turned in they don't think about the BII and a smart/greedy/douchy grunt will keep them knowing they can. There is nothing that can be done about this except to teach what you can to who needs it most and hope they retain as much as possible. And I know most grunts out there are great people but you always have the PIA one that doesn't really do much and finds so many things "neat" and figures out ways to get these things home. Hell how many M16 magazines are out there in civilian hands from armorers not making soldiers sign for them or replacing them at every range when there is no need. I turned in over a hundred magazines when I left because of them giving out new ones at every range because so many soldiers would "forgot them" at home or in their room so they would just hand out more to speed things up.

They don't! I really don't care, but it seems like people are sending thousands of dollars worth of equipment to someone that no one has verified is what he says he is. If it's true, I'll do my part and send him more equipment. But, my 28 years of military service tell me that something's not right here. All I'm asking for is an AKO and an APO. If he's legit, he gets 2 M14 magazines and a care package.

Great question and yes, this soldier is 100% legit and is in need of additional equipment. He has been issued an M-14 but just like the case when my unit deployed just after the invasion, we were issued the most haggard and barely operable M-14's that were around. We too had to put in cash to modify them to make ourselves more combat effective.

I didn't really have any knowledge on the Khales scopes, but after a quick search on that model, my jaw dropped! This is one hell of a great thing for a manufacture to do and of course gives them the credibility similar to other very highly regarded manufactures (such as USO). I'm greatly impressed and as an army sniper myself, it brings me some serious feel good!

I can tell folks this much. I personally came up with the idea of the TNVC RSP due to so many older M14's getting issued and our poor troops using duck tape and pillows to rid their chin-welds was a terrible solution.

So hearing about a standard M14 out in theater is NO surprise to me to say the least. Thousands of these are out there and not everyone gets the fancy AND heavy EBR's.

From somebody looking to enlist himself in the next coming months, i am absolutely speechless at the patriotism and common decency that everyone here is portaying! Never have i ever seen so many people in a community take on a newcomer and help him how he needs in his tough time fighting for us all.

The reason i'm believing the story is because i too have a close friend who was in the same situation, getting sent out without the shit he needs, or the lowest grade possible unit handed to him.

Keyword there... I've been around more than my fair share and have seen plenty of units incapable of supplying their guys with the items they need. When I say incapable, I'm referring to incompetence. It exists, often in the supply world, or command world; the troops end up suffering for it.

The mil supply system will provide all mission essential equipment period
If your mission requires a scope then the mil will provide it, sure you may need C/O signed letter for authorisation but mil supply system will provide it.
If its just nice to have gear or non mission essential you should still go thru mil supply, if your C/O signs off on it then they will source it and obtain it for you.
Circumventing system only makes it harder to get stuff thru supply channels, so your not helping when ya send gear you make it harder to get from supply

thank you for your service surveil. i apologize for the gross misappropriation of our military's funding. i was stationed at a spec war helicopter squadron for 5 years, couldnt believe the day that 40 EBR's came in for our aircrew and at least 100 eotech's a week later. many of them dissappeared quickly. we havnt even been to the desert since 05.
