Hey guys, this is just for fun. It's not meant to embarrass anyone. I just thought we might all have a chuckle discussing our "Do-over " shots. By that I mean, what's the one shot you've taken that really makes you wish you could grab the bullet, stuff it back down the barrel, whip out the Men in Black memory eraser for any witnesses, and have a do-over?

Since it's my topic, I'll go first. Mine was several years ago. With, of course, a crowd of tactical officers looking on. Standing, with a 9mm Colt SMG, I missed a damn bowling pint from 5 yards. This prompted a chorus of jeers and ribbing. I later hit one from 75 yards with one shot in front of the same crowd, so I did somewhat redeem myself, but I want a do-over on that 5 yard shot!

What's your do-over shot?

Re: What's your Do-over shot

It all started with 5 guys in a circle.............i mean nevermind this is just too hard to talk about.

Re: What's your Do-over shot

It's the misses that you stay up at night thinking about, not the hits.

Al the redo's were on scum that should be dead. One BG in particular, I like to call the luckiest man alive, he managed to win the BG lotto three times. He knew our ROE and our range pretty well and played it in his favor.

Re: What's your Do-over shot

Years ago i was elk hunting. Fresh snow and cut a bunch of tracks and statred to follow. After about 1 mile my guard was down when i came around a corner and was looking At 15 elk At 50yrds. I had the wind so they didn't blow out but got real jumpy. I went to a prone position with my pack as a rest. i had 1 standing straight At me so i centered on the chest and let one go. Thought i saw it fold through the scope so didn't worry about follow upshot. I never found blood, hair nothing. Looked 45 min. Nothing found.

Re: What's your Do-over shot

Not mine, but a buddy at the ranch.

Had racoon run up into a feeder ( 1000# protein feeder on ground). Told him to shoot that SOB!

Held the hatch to the feeder open with a bungie, Tim, sticks the muzzle of an AR in, BANG. One miss.

Try again! - BANG, another miss, now have two holes in feeder.

Third try BANG - missed again, this time, coon launches out in a Superman/coon leap at Tim, who is back pedaling, trying not to spill his whiskey drink and drop his smoke. Unleashed a whole mag at said coon, point blank range. ALL misses.

After coon makes good his escape, Tim safe's his rifle " damn, I shot 19 times at that coon!!!" SO big guy.... you saved the last one for yourself, in case he came back?

Henceforth, let his name be known as Rocky, when at Man Camp. We sent him dead pictures of road kill coons for a year afterwards.

If we'd had gotten video, it would have been epic youtube stuff.

Re: What's your Do-over shot

Not rifle, but bow.
Years ago (1973). A Field & Stream morning and hunt. Watching 3 really mature bucks browsing and rutting about. Wait until they're about 30 yards away. Sent the first arrow about 3 feet over the bucks back. Hands shaking like a virgin in a whore house trying to nock the second arrow. The buck moves to within 20 yards. I draw and release. The arrow doesn't even go the 20 yards. Half way sticks up in the ground and falls over. Bucks spook. Only case of buck fever I ever had, but damned near died from it.
