I have narrowed my choices down to the eberlestock gunslinger 2 or the X4. I like the gunslinger for the fact that I can carry a weapon, and it doesnt look that big. I also like that the waist belt comes off, when traveling no waist belt would be good for the plane. are there any pros or cons that I am missing? As of now I have these and the gunslinger 2 seems better than both.

Re: Looking for a backpack

i have the gs2. use it for huntung as well as travelling (i use the scabbard for the laptop then). more than enough space for 2 weeks of business travel, and an a similar level for a hunting trip. used it for some hikes in the alps incl. sleeping bag and climbing gear. i wouldn't want the gs2 to be larger, nor to be smaller.

i'd recomment to get the raincover right away. aber the internal alu-frame that you can add to it ... not too pleased about that as it doesn't attach to any loops on the inside or something.

bottom line - in heavy use for 2 years now and no sign of weakness.

okay. one thing. it's not so easy to get blood out of it, so some parts have stains.

Re: Looking for a backpack

there is a site that gives a free gift when you buy it, and the rain cover is onthere along with the endo frame.

I don't know man I'd probably save one of those bags just for flying. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable flying with a bag that I also use for shooting. Too many pockets to forget something exciting in. I have made it this far in life without being cavity searched by TSA and am hoping to continue that winning streak.

PM ceylonc here on the Hide and he will help you pick the pack you need and get you a good price. Deltaoutdoorsman.com is his company and his customer service is second to none! I got the GS2 from him and could not be happier.

he is out of dry earth until august so I have some time. I have been searching for pics but there seems to be few to none of dry earth and military green which is close to ranger green.

Re: Looking for a backpack

You can't go wrong with any Eberlestock pack. I have the X2 and love it. The x2 has molle on it for additional pouches and or rifle scabbard.

Re: Looking for a backpack

I prefer the Kifaru Navigator if price is no object. ThrottleJ has a point, gun poweder and TSA sniffers don't mix when it's in your bag. It doesnt take allot to set them off.

Re: Looking for a backpack

thanks for the pics, what is the dry earth close to in color? I like it and I might go with the dry earth when he gets them in stock.

Re: Looking for a backpack

So it would better blend with coyote tan or Multicam better than ranger green?
