Well, finally picked up my TRG from the FFL. Looks way sexier in person. I went with the TRG-22 in .260.

Got a couple accessories with it. Sako bipod, 2 extra magazines, sako muzzle break, and the Explorers of Italy case.

This rifle is from EuroOptic. They were amazing to work with. I was in afghanistan for the last year and have been sending them emails back in forth for the last 4-5 months getting this thing ordred. Everything was very easy on my end thanks to those guy.

So I'd like to say thanks to Alex and the crew at EuroOptic to putting up with my ass and getting this beauty to me.

I have a couple questions but first PICTURES!!

Of course i got the Impact Data books modular book and round count.

First question and i know theres a thread on this forum somewhere about an O-ring mod to the bipod.

Second question, Looking for the thread about cutting foam on hard cases. I need to make a couple minor tweaks to the foam and want to do it right.

Third question, I purchased a Near MFG picatiny base from a forum member and am wondering if theres any special way to screw it in there? The old Picatiny rail was removed by EuroOptic. The holes need to be cleaned out a bit. but was wondering about locktite or a certain torque needed.

I cant think of anytihng else at the moment. Im waiting on installing the base, recieving my rings from another member and a scope to come in before I get any range time so sit tight

From Richard Near instructions:

1) Set base on top of of the action.
2) Inset and start all 6 screws by 2 turns each
3) Use the third screw from the back end to lower the base recoil lugs into their pockets until the base is seated on the action top.
4) Lightly tighten the remaining screws starting in the center of the base and alternating outwards to each end.
5) Final torque is 20 inch-lbs. (18-20 inch-lbs).
***NO LOCTITE IS REQUIRED ON ANY SCREW THREADS***

Good luck, and enjoy that new rifle.

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

Great looking rifle. I heard that the 260's were impossible to get now. You must be one of the lucky ones. I am not sure about the narrow stance bipod. I have the wide stance bipod and it locks up nice and tight once you load into it. Does yours lock up when loaded?

That would be a blast. Theres about 10 gnomes running around this place. But, they were my grandmas and we got them when she passed away. Just wouldnt be right.

I havent sat behind it too much just yet. In the grass in the back yard the feet didnt stick to the groud to well and when i tried loading it, the rifle would slide forward sometimes.

38 pounds with the TRG inside. along with, bipod, 3 magazines, impact book, and muzzle break.

20 pounds empty

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

Semmens, I assume the case has wheels ? I used to use a Pelican case for an M40A1 I used to have but I quit using it because although it gave great protection it was awfully heavy and my case had no wheels. What I'm using with my TRG is a soft tactical case and it seems to be working good so far, but no doubt the hard case is best

Yes the case has some pretty nice wheels on the one side. Its pretty heavy to carry. But, for the protection it provides its worth the extra weight

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

I finally looked at the base i got for my trg. Its a 20moa near base. Im missing one of the 6 screws. Where could i get one ordered?

I have no idea waht size it is. Will i have to call the company to get one?

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

I have a TRG22 and I would send you one my screws but I can't get any of the damn things loose. I've tried heat but I guess I need a mini torch.

If I get any of them loose in the next week I can send 'em over. I won't need them as I have a Spuhr Mount.

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

Wow i really appreciate it guys. I know the instructions said no locktite. Do you retighten your screws every year or so? Do they ever vibrate loose?

I have my Near base on a .338LM with about 200 rds down range and it's still as tight as can be with no lock tite. Unless you see a loss in accuracy, I wouldn't be worried about it.

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

still workin on getting a base and scope for it.. Will find out though.. I almost pulled the trigger on a 338 until i found out how much the shells cost and found about about the limited run for the 260 and jumped on it

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

I have had GAP, DTA and AI rifles seems I'm dancing around the TRG. Honestly that beauty may have pushed me over the edge to order a TRG in .260! Congrats on the sweet rifle. Oh and welcome home brother.

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

Congrats, on the new gun, and THANK YOU, for your service to this great country! You're gonna love it. Sweet gun.I just got my 300 Win mag, 42, a few months ago. We're still "gettin acquainted", but so far, she's a shooter. I did my foam "adjustment", with a sharp steak knife. Did OK. The cases are nice but they are heavy. You might find the wider stance bipod to be "better". I started with a GG&G, and found the stance too close, for the TRG. It would "fall over" too easily. I did, finally, take a file to the clip that locks the pod in place, cause it was a pain to get off the gun. Just rounded the edge a little, and it's fine.Good luck !And I agree. Europtics is #1, First Class OP! Although, I've got to call them. They didn't tell me they had the"books"! I'm jealous.

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

God bless our troops! Especially our snipers!
Beautiful Sako! You deserve it!
Alex sold me a Nightforce F 1 two years ago and was awesome to deal with.

Re: Got my new TRG!!!

You'll love it. I got mine from Eurooptics last summer. If you reload, there are a few threads in here that pertain to reloading the TRG's in 260 Rem. H4350 seems to be a popular powder along with 139 gr. Scenars or 142 gr. SMK's.
